So it looks like Multiplay have taken on a lot of feedback from the last few LANs and are now moving to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry starting with i51 in Spring 2014!

The key nice things are:
- The entire site, including all LAN areas is air conditioned - no more sweaty summer LANs! (although we'll have to see how well it holds up against thousands of PCs as well as people!)
- On site bar, club, casino, hotel, camping, 2000 space car park and the country's largest tesco's (and a go outdoors for the campers!) are all very close by!
- It also seems like the venue are very keen to help multiplay do what they need in terms of security, dates and even the food options!
- Lots and lots of exhibition / clan box space etc.!

For me it seems like a great move - still in fairly central location so no further for me to travel etc.

Any other's thoughts?

Sweaty summer lans? We were freezing our asses off 

The closest useable airport is Birmingham as far as I can see. (20 mins by car/1 hour by public transport). That seems like a big improvement for internationals

Edit: WTF google maps. You can't have a public transport route contain "drive for 9 minutes". That's not how it works

Liked the waterfall. I'm a big fan of water features.

Only worry is the accommodation. Will there be enough? It looks like Telford had more in the way of nearby hotels and both the International and the Holiday Inn sold out.

According to the website they have 121 hotel rooms - which really isn't that many so that might be a problem. There are other hotels that are nearby but I guess not as close as the ones at the TIC.

Been there twice now:
- Once for football
- Once for an ambulance show

The latter is probably more relevant: The halls are fairly large; all are connected at the main entrance so it's pretty centralised. When I went, there was like a small sandwich shop open in the corner of the hall -- unsurprisingly everything is stupidly expensive. :\ Halls are gloriously cosey as well. Didn't notice it was boiling hot outside when you get into the halls.

It's literally 5-10 mins of the M6 and has it's own dedicated junction off it so you can't miss it.

The hotel situation looks a little worrying - the TIC had 3/4 fairly large hotels all within reasonable walking distance but the Ricoh arena doesn't seem to have anything like that - just 121 rooms. Considering the hotels in Telford all seem to sell out before LAN I'm not sure what else is nearby to accommodate people who don't want to camp.

I did a google search to see what was nearby but I couldn't really see much?!

Only one I could see is the Novotel which is about a 20 minute walk away, but that's only 98 rooms too. The one on site is a De Vere so it probably won't be cheap (although I get a discount through work so might be able to hook something up there). Not very promising overall

Multiplay have booked out the entire hotel for i51 - but apparently there are no limits (apart from the fire limits) on the number of people in each room - so you could set up air beds etc. if you wanted to fit more people in.

But still...there's only 121 of them.

They did also mention something about the council helping out with organising public transport for the event. The main problem is getting back to your hotel late at night / early in the morning if it's not on-site.

I'll probably be sitting out iSeries till Summer LAN again (and even then I'm not sure if I can make it)... Hopefully things will have settled by then.
