First impressions. Its good. It is also just a glorified expansion pack. All the side missions are just go do X amount of acitivies in X area that you could do anyway. This makes the missions more boring overall than SR3. Make no mistake this is just a huge sandbox to play in, the story is nice but such a small part of gametime. The superpowers are good fun and make getting around fairly interesting. Some of the acitivies required to finish the game are coop now. Which is good but it also drives home that you can't solo this game. I honestly don't get why the millions of people i've asked to coop this have said waaa want to play SP first. Theres a story its silly and short. Most of the time you punch aliens in the balls this is more fun with someone else. Theres just no part of this game that you would have more fun playing singleplayer first then having to repeat it in coop.

Re: glorified expansion pack. The city is identical to SR3. There may be alien structures and other stuff going on but the absolute base is identical block for block. This makes the city almost too familiar although the super powered movement saves this. I doubt most of you played the SR3 expansion with the super powers in but super sprinting round the streets, running up walls, and super jumping everywhere, then gliding makes the lack of change bearable. The large number of data clusters you need to pick up to level super powers are absolutely boring if you try just running about collecting them, but if you grab as many as you can on the way to objectives this really encourages you to make moving about the city a game in itself. The main story missions are the only times you get new areas and theres only about 15 of those. And quite a few of those are tutorials where they make you do activities. And i've done quite a lot of Kinzie's and the VPs side quests are they are all 100% just do activities with 0 else going on, no special objectives, no special enemies, no special level areas. A lot of the in-game stores sell identical clothing ranges as they did in SR3, with a handful of new stuff for SR4. This is fine and I approve of asset reuse but I think we'd have been a lot better off if this was an expansion pack and all the SR3 dlc was available too. SR4 seems to have all the base content from SR3 and none of the DLC crap which is slightly worrying because knowing volition they will try to sell it to people again.

Re: Its better in coop. SR3 did a really good job of making sure a lot of the activities were actually playable in coop and often better. This often meant the scores required were higher, sometimes you rode the same vehicle (tank one drives, one has turret, both can shoot, trailblazing, one rides the other burns stuff to get more time) Sometimes you both had a vehicle or mayhem weapon. My experience from SR3 is that its way funnier to do these things with someone else and have someone to laugh about them with, SR is just a few chuckles to yourself alone its a totally different game. And SR4 is 100% activities including the new coop activities (one is just the cat and mouse game from SR3 made into a proper activity, one is a super powered versus battle). The missions were often quite accommodating to a second player as well as long as you stuck together. The superpowered missions I did together with Cruel were some of the funniest for just dicking around. You'd be beating up guys and see CruelCow super sprint past you in the background and punch a tank etc.
