This is the place to discuss the proposed configuration for a 'hardcore' style server.

Proposed solution (will be updated as suggestions are made etc.):
- ETF2L tournament maplist/rotation
- No crits
- if possible, ETF2L weapon whitelist (mode was having some trouble finding a suitable plugin that would work for this in public mode)
- Standard respawn times
- Fixed weapon spread etc.

What about classlimits? Map time / winlimits (I assume the ETF2L - first to 5 or 30 minutes)

We'll run a minimal set of sourcemod plugins - mostly just things like the advertisements etc.

Is just a stand alone sourcemod plugin (no extra stuff needed) which has public server options (ie works without tournament mode - although i have never tried to run it like that). The one Mode was trying was a more complicated.

Has all the whitelists etc built in - but can turn them and class limits off.

Could potentially link it to logs.tf via api key that is built in but no idea how they would look but could be useful/interesting/reason why people would play here.

Well ETF2L is win difference 5 or 30min - which may take too long with 24 players. Maybe first to 5 is better...

Think you would maybe double the etf2l class limits for 12 v 12 (Medic limit 2, Heavy limit 2, Demoman limit 2 and Limit 4 for other classes.)

Although that does potentially means loads of spies/snipers/engineers which would results in very fast rounds (maybe not a bad thing as punishment?) but could maybe limit 2/3 for some of those?

Class Limits (Assuming 24 slot server)
- Scout 4
- Soldier 4
- Pyro 4
- Demoman 3
- Heavy 2
- Engineer 2
- Medic 4
- Sniper 2/3
- Spy 2/3

I'd recommend as well the Advanced Map Chooser. We can filter out maps from the map vote based on how many people are on the server.

Would it be possible to allow individual weapons...I'm thinking of the Quickfix for example...weapons that might be being trialled for comp or are of interest for some other reason.

And we'd still have rtv and map voting?

Would personally keep it to etf2l maps that are actually in the pool. Can only speak for myself but if it was that list I wouldn't play on it.

But then maybe you can target it as a public Highlander 'competitive' server and scrap 6v6 only maps.

Well I'd say play it like we did Server 1

Start with a basic ETF2L map pool....then add ones we fancy in a vote...I'm thinking maps that have been played in previous seasons. Others would have a better idea than me of what's standard and what isn't.

Since we're looking at a non-Quickplay server, we can be a bit more adventureous with the ones we put on. Regarding the less usual highlander maps...we could see what maps are being played in a season and consider adding them...if they are good. Maps like cft_haunt can be barred whatever!

We could also keep an eye on maps being used in NA....I've heard so much about metalworks it might be worth trying.

I threw this over to reddit just to get a feel for how popular it might be (and also more of getting our name out there)

Unsurprisingly, the reaction was positive, a few general suggestions about class limits, a desire for rtv and one marriage proposal which I took to indicate a thumbs up for the concept.

The chap who did this http://wiethoofd.info/custom_whitelist/ said he'd disabled the beta version but that the live version would be online asap (with managing of reskins and more presets) if it's of use to us.

I think we could do it if we focus on one evening. Tonight, looking at the profiles of some of the people playing, not counting our regs, I doubt they came to us via Quickplay.

Well that's a list of the basic maps. We can think about some of the others from Lefty's list.

We also need to think about weapons.

6v6 whitelist or HL whitelist?

I can't think of any servers with a 6v6 whitelist; but is it too restrictive? However the more liberal HL whitelist would allow mini-sentries but lots of people hate mini-sentries. Anyhow further thoughts and feedback required....I'll certainly have a few chats with various HL people, in particular to get their thoughts about a 6v6 whitelist.

I also need to look at exactly what's allowed and what isn't in both and what overlaps.

Since this is going to be a public server and people will be wanting to play all the classes I'd say use a highlander whitelist. I don't think a 6v6 whitelist would be all that great with more than 12 people on the server.
