Thoughts on moving Chivalry to it's own weekly (or otherwise) game night? Chivalry has been the most popular game for Llama nights so far so it's a potential candidate for more focus from the clan.

We can either:
- Set up a regular game night for Chivalry (i.e. not a sunday) either once a week / every 2 weeks
If we did this, who would play if it wasn't on a Sunday? How frequently would you like them to be?

- Rent a (=WDG=) server for Chivalry
Obviously this means we could play at any time and maybe try to build the community through the new server - we can of course still have regular game nights. Would you play on the server if it was available or only if prompted by community events? Would anyone be willing to help promote/advertise/populate the server?

Any other thoughts/comments/suggestions?!

I would try make chivalry whatever day it was. Obviously some people will have RL stuff to do though

I would join in on a game night once a month or every 2 weeks. I tend to play it an hour or so once a month more or less but I think I would get bored of it if I played it more regularly.

we have got as far as it being an epic game but not much further

I'd make it where possible. Maybe once a fortnight? Tuesdays/Wednesdays?

My only thought is it clashing with any days when we're trying to start the TF2 server. At the moment it's a bit random when and if we do it, but Tuesday is often the selected day....midweek between Fragfests.

If people go for Wednesday, once a fortnight say, I'd ask for one of those Wednesdays to be the third Wednesday in the month so I can use my mic and the volume on my speakers

We have a Chivalry evening.

Not Tuesday because at the moment we're looking at that being our Hardcore Lovin' Server TF2 evening.

Chug has suggested Tuesday/Wednesday so that makes it a Wednesday (no-one yet has said they have Wednesday problems except for me)

So fortnightly or monthly...shall we have a vote or can we decide here

And we still haven't decided  if we want to rent a server; worth it fornightly perhaps, probably not monthly. We can do a bit of research  into popular server modes and what fills servers.

Yeah, I'd probably turn up to it once a fortnight. I'd be tempted to trial a server for 2-3 months just to see what happens - in that kind of time it's reasonable that it could be self-sustaining in terms of population etc.

When we played it for last night's Llama Night, twice we started on empty or near empty servers, both times they filled up pretty quickly, though the second server was Russian.

I reckon the game is still on an upward curve regarding popularity.

If we were to have our own server, we'd have to think about map rotation.

From what I gather, players who like duel maps tend to be on their own, a bit like arena in TF2, so maybe no duel maps.
Apart from that it's hard to know what mixes of maps work with the Chiv community. I think I'd prefer a mix, we'd like the server to be popular if we ran one, but we'd want to make sure that we actually wanted to play on it. There are only 5 objective maps; for one, I'd get bored of just those pretty quickly. Or any single mode.

There are larger maps and smaller maps...the larger maps seem to be considered the equivalent of 32-man dustbowl or lazytown servers; spamfests. Also smaller maps = less lag.

Archers = snipers..more highly thought of servers have class limits here.

It looks like the developers are still putting a lot of work into the game. The next step looks to be custom maps (we experienced the customisation yesterday)

So yep, that's where we are. We have a fortnightly Chiv group? We could rent a server for a couple of months, at least that means we could make sure we had okay ping when we chose to play. What might we lose from it? What might we gain from it? We could stick up a couple of posts on various Chiv forums to advertise.

This is still under consideration, but currently most of my thinking is taken up with TF2 (both servers and both nights) and Llama Nights and just Stuff.

We could still fling up a server and see what happens though

The expansion Deadliest Warrior (w/ Samurai, Spartans and 4 other new yet-to-be-revealed characters & maps) expansion is coming out soon (Fall 2013) but it is still not known how it is going to work with the base game (if it splits the people who own the base game or whether there's a way for those to play on the new maps/modes). Reckon you should take that into consideration if you folks decide to put up a Chivalry server
