Skullgirls websiteSkullgirls on SteamThread music:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt4cNN68UHEDescriptionSkullgirls is a game made by fighting game player Mike Zaimont. It is highly inspired by Marvel vs. Capcom with many of its tactics returning such as double and super jumps, tag teams, and tag hyper combos.
Features:Story modeFeatures original character portraits, >200 original illustrations and characters outside of the main cast. Endings are non canon.
The Story Mode trailer can be seen here.
OnlineSkullgirls uses the GGPO netcode which is recognized for greatly improving the online experience in fighting games. The game features ranked matches, and the PC version also has lobbys.
Infinite Prevention System and High/Low Unblockables Infinites are detected by the game, allowing the player to burst out of a combo that may loop indefinitely after a few loops.
Unblockables exist in many fighting games and they are an extremely, sometimes too much so, strong tactic that cannot be evaded if executed correctly. In Skullgirls, after a character blocks a high or low, they are protected for a tiny period of time from both high and low attacks. The protection is long enough that a player can successfully defend against the first attack and still be protected from the would be unblockable. This cuts down on nearly imperceptible unblockable mixups and pushes players towards footsies and pokes into combos.
Tag teams and assistsDuring character select, each player can compose his team with three, two or only one character. The game will boost teams accordingly in ensure a fair match.
Similarly to MVC, when using a team of multiple characters, you can call in a character to attack with an assist move. Assist moves can be selected during character select, and you can also input your own assist move.
Practice RoomA complete training mode is available with many unique features to help improve your skills: hitstun gauge, complete frame and hitboxes data, savestates and more.
Easier InputsSkullgirls has simple inputs in order to focus the game on fighting. There are simple quarter circle motions, and the game will detect when you input a 360 motion and prevent your character from performing an unwanted jump.
TutorialThere's a wide range of lessons in tutorial modes that will teach you all the fundamentals of your standard fighting game. You will then move on to learn how each character works. It makes Skullgirls perfect for both neophytes and fighting game veterans
GraphicsSkullgirls features beautiful high-res 2D animated sprites with cartoon inspired characters. A powerful 3D engine renders the background and also provides interesting lighting effects to the 2D sprites and hit sparks. All sprites are twice the size they are displayed for zoom-in and filtering purposes. There are also numerous skins for each characters, many of them being references to other games, cartoons and animes
