but there's a difference between a physical disc and a game on steam, so I'm very doubtful that sharing for all games will be implemented.
Now that Games-on-Demand is getting more and more accessible for console users, it is also a very similiar model to Steam. Essentially both PC and (NextGen-)Consoles will have digital distribution as a profitable sales market. So I definitely see parallels drawn here, in the end Microsoft shouldnt be blamed alone for all this used game bullshit theyre implementing, its 3rd parties foremost that are requesting these features for nextgen consoles. Sony is going all in with their pro-customer strategy, but yeah as you said, preorder and general poll results heavily favor the PS4 at the moment. Its just a question if publishers will accept it but if it stays that way, they probably will and right now all big publishers are going crossplattform. Itll be a question of outweighing how much you as a publisher lose on a console that doesnt restrict used game marketing vs. a console that has less customers but strict DRM. So I think this new console war thats coming will be a big decider. Unless Microsoft softens their DRM policy up, I can definitely see that this wont be the same as current gen where every big game is guaranteed to be on both platforms, eventually publishers will shift and concentrate on the one market where they make their profit.
