As CC pointed out, Highlander queue could be implemented in such a way that queueing as a pyro locks you into a personal class limit of 1 pyro (maybe add a trade system). For bonus points, they could add a queue tracker for each class that allows you to switch mid-queue to get into game faster at the cost of off-classing.

Yeah both games share quite some traits. Theyre eventually going to implement TF2s coaching system in a way, and I can see Dotas leveling up system with the guaranteed item drops being used for the competitive lobbysystem. I feel like TF2 used to be their playground for new business models and innovative ways to play the game, but it has shifted over to Dota since that game has surpassed TF2 in playercount a long time ago.

I think I'd prefer to see something more similar to how you ladder with map-choices in SC2. You can 'veto' a number of maps and not have to play them in ladder games.
Tickboxes to select the roles you want to play (or not!) and then it matches based on having one of each role on the team - if they want to give a bit more freedom then don't force them into those roles, or if it's just as bad as the current system then you could force them to play the role they were queued up for.
I see what you mean about the roles thing and forced meta - it's easier in some games where each role is literally predetermined by the developer (think TF2 classes with map-types to LoL champion roles and Meta) but in LoL, while most champions have a clear preference, some you can play in other roles.

There is no specific rule which says that hard randoming a champion is reportable, but riots stance is roughly if you do not try your best to win you can get reported in ranked, rarely is there a legitimate reason for randoming a champ and so it is pretty much reportable. The problem is with the current state of the game the stale meta is basically endorsed by riot and it makes no sense for example when you have players introduced in the lcs before a game as a 'top laner' and they then play 1 vs 2 bot. This of course does not happen with 99.9% of lol games but it is just an example how they seem to be stuck to such an idea. Then you enter a lobby with no designated role every game (unless on a ranked 5's team) and you have to negotiate a role with 4/3 people you don't know for a heavily favoured role, it isn't the best way to do it and it all stems from a forced lane/role meta. The option to choose a role would be interesting, it would fix alot of issues pre game with the only issue being what chug pointed out, but of course there is the tribunal which i'm sure would punish such players who don't abide by their pre-selected role so maybe it could work.

Have we all forgotten that the L4D and TF2 coop lobbies are absolute garbage that can never find servers? Lobbies would be nice but valves track record is a series of car crashes. They've probably stabilised a bit over time but they are still the worst experience of playing those games.

Yeah - I agree with that, but in other games it works fine... also - we found a server with no problems on Sunday for L4D2, I guess they've sorted their shit out now combined with much fewer players.

But even that is actually enforcing a strict metagame. Why cant he jungle aswell, why cant he have smite aswell? Theres alot of possible strats revolving around that but since people are entitled to be the only jungler, you get banned for it. That just proves my point of what Riot is doing and how they are contradicting themselves when they say they want to allow for metachanges.
Also the case I was referring to were I think two instances where they banned a player out of their lobby for picking a bruiser as a support, wasnt the smite jungler thing with Pendragon that youre thinking off. Wish I could find the screencaps of that but that was a while ago.
