Kinda having this dilemma at the moment as well. Looking into a getting a wireless headset as I'm getting fed up of constantly breaking headsets by standing up and walking away whilst still wearing them (my current ones are on their last legs). Plsu I want to be able to watch something in bed before going to sleep without Jen moaning about the speakers being on too loud.

I would consider a desk mic, but I would want to use this headset for i49 as well, and can imagine that might be...ineffective. Having said that, the problem I'm having is I use an inbuild soundcard which has always been good to me, but pretty much all wireless headsets use USB, so not only would I miss out on super sexy sound, would also put more load on the CPU, MEANING SLOWER GAMING PLZ STOP NAOW! I hear there is a way to potentially sort it using a "virtual cable" but dunno enough about it to rely on it being true. Only one I think I saw that can use the soundcard is the Astra A50, but at £250, a little bit too much

The 2 that interested me were the Logitech G930 and Corsair Vengeance 2000. Saw a bunch of Creative ones that are meant to be good in terms of sound, but are renowned for being uncomfortable for those with larger heads (such as myself). Think I used to own a wired one iirc, think it broke under the strain of my enormous cranium, but recall it being crazy uncomfortable

I considered a desk mic a while ago. I find wearing headphones for too long uncomfortable and a bit awkward sitting there with them on,  if I just want to chill and chat.

I tried one but it didn't seem to pick up sound well, probably too cheap.

Get tie-clip mics people! It means you can have decent headphones without paying "gamer" prices and don't have to fuck about with a desk mic.

With regards to wandering off with headphones on, I've never done that, no idea how you'd forget you were wearing them once you stand up and as for watching in bed depending on how far your PC is from the bed you could get something like this if your cable isn't long enough (my headphones have a stupidly long, thick, cable anyway, I normally wrap it around the headphone rest thing that came with them to keep the wire semi-organised).

Tie clip mics are horrible if you like to get up in between deaths/rounds.

I use a headset around my neck when I'm at home with my speakers - then I can position .

One thing I like about it is that it has a kill cord (similar to what you have on xbox 360 controllers) so if you walk away from your PC the cable comes apart near the headset rather than trying to yank at the cables at the back. That might be something to look out for.

I tried using a clip-on mic but finding something to clip it onto when you're naked is a challenge ^.^

Edit: I have a copy of this months PC Gamer and they reviewed some headsets - the only wireless one in the bunch was the Corsair Vengeance 2000 - which they gave a pretty respectable 88. It is wireless with USB though.

To me personally, I think I'd just forget to switch them off/charge them if I had a wireless one.

The Unboxing:

The headset:

The headset itself has a good build quality to it but looks a tad flimsy on the hinges above the ear cups but I just gave them a good flex and they are sturdy
The metal parts are not metal but to confirm this I shall have to bell it out with my tester at work
Wearing the headset is SO FUCKING COMFORTABLE! OH JEZZ WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?? It is pretty much like wearing a crown made out of the softest material known to man kind! But I am glad that it is not the softest material known to man kind as that would mean I would be wearing the fuzzy material that surrounds a calf's testicle :S true story look it up here!

The mic is on a single pivot point that is located on the left hand side of the headset (the charging point is also located on the left hand side)
The mic itself is really clear, I went on mumble the other night and spoke to some people and they did point out that I sounded clearer and sexeh and this is all down to the mics black magic way of working

The battery life I can not tell yet as I have only been using it for 4 hours but so far so good! But word on the street says that is holds 10 hours behind it so you can easily game all day with it on.

I am not sound engineer (I only do that shit part time) but I have done some crash test's on it and the sound is pretty damn impressive.
As we all know that the 7.1 surround sound that is promised can not be achieved due to the fact that there is no speaker in the back of your head But it is still surround sound but it's not TRUE surround sound and it works by using drivers that mimic the frequency of real surround sound so therefore it has "low-end" frequencies (correct me if I am wrong) that's why loads of fake surround sound headset's seam to be "basseh" but this headset do's not have that problem.
TLDR: Unless you have ear's of a bat I wouldn't worry about music that lacks clarity If you want to hear music and films in super clear true surround sound go to a recording studio bottom line is they sound great ^^ and you can download a graphic EQ to play around all the settings so simmer down people shit just got real MUTHER FLIPPING EQ ALL UP IN THIS HOUSE!

Set up:
Easy, slap that puppy in and go it really is that simple if you are a bit of a spoon there is the worlds largest silver sync button the side so go nuts!
