Looks neato. Will have to see how EA the paintunlocking will be. Cool that you can customize sidearms now instead of just choosing presets like in 3. The new reload mechanic is really interesting.

So some good some bad about the DEMO thats out. Theres some performance issues right now where the CPU gets 100% and causes occasional hickups and even people with highendrigs are getting this, but given that this build is a few weeks old they probably havent finished optimization yet. Runs good on my machine on low settings and thats all I want out of it, the game looks beautiful even then.

Theres just some stuff in it that irritates me. There are annoying things in this game that were in 3 already but then got fixed over the course of patches and now theyre back in their old form. Like for example setting squad objectives is very frustrating because it shares the same button as spotting again so youll constantly set objectives by accident. Also when joining a server with a friend it does that retarded thing of automatically setting your squad private again. hnghh. Apart from that the new mechanics are neat, the automatic lean feels nice, the pace overall is a lot faster, guns kill quicker and reload times are almost nonexistant for most rifles. The cool new thing is that Recon and Support now have access to the Engis Carbines too, I think that will solve the issue from 3 where those classes had no chance against the Medic. The Carbines are almost as good as Assault Rifles in this, the acr is a beast. They also gave Recon C4 so they have something against tanks and Supports now have a lockon grenade launcher that is great for taking out guys behind cover. Vehicles got nerfed way hard in this game, all Tanks and Airvehicles dont have unlimited ammo anymore so you cant just spam chokepoints anymore.

The map in the beta is a lot of fun, the layout is very similiar to Seine Crossing but it feels more open and the middle doesnt feel as contested, there are a lot more rooftops to camp on and the elevators are cool. Me and my friends spent every game last night shooting the pillars off the skyscraper to make it collapse. It covers the whole map in dust, so snipers and helicopters are less effective. Gives a good glimpse of what the levelchanging elements on other maps could be like.

I dunno its just Battlefield 3.5 really but it looks competent. The new map is great, the new battlelog features do have potential, the spectatormode is in it but you cant play as a commander in the demo unfortunately. I preordered after a few matches so I guess they were successful.

I am slightly annoyed about the limited ammo in vehicles. Its way too low. I haven't gone through the perks though, I expect there will be a way to increase capacity, or a reason to have a support riding with you. Feel like they should buff it by a clip or two. But in general I am ok with needing to refill.

Attack Choppers got hit the most, Gunners only have 2 spare "mags" before they have to recharge so you cant really do constant strafing runs anymore and have to lay low for a while till your gunner has ammo again. It sounds like a hard nerf but on the opposite they also made stingerrockets borderline useless, their chance of hitting are felt <50% and they barely do damage anymore. Will have to see how the other launchers work. Good thing this is a beta where they say "your feedback counts" and 95% of all weapons and gadgets are restricted, Im sure this wont lead to a USAS-situation a few weeks after its out like it did in 3, not at all!

The battlescreen feature is really cool. When you join a server on battlelog you can use your second monitor as a giant map that goes on in realtime. Too bad its affecting performance too much on my end, but I can see this being really cool with a tablet or laptop on your side having the map on.

I was initially worried about these "Battlepacks" but turns out theyre really just cosmetic stuff like different coloured lasersights, weapon camos, knifes and dog tags. You can also occasionally get a timed XP boost out of it but I dont really see it as gamebreaking as it doesnt affect unlock progression. So thats fine, you get one every 2-3 rankups and they also randomly drop after rounds I presume.
