Well theres some bits you can take from it e.g. squads seem to be 5man instead of 4 and they also have the stupid Dropsystem from mass effect 3 in it? Apart from that graphics cant really be judged since this is a 360 devkit with most textures missing, but all in all it looks fairly the same which is what I was expecting sadly. I just hope theyll improve the netcode a lot.

Yeah I mean graphically they were at the top pretty much, so no huge quality jumps were to be expected with such a short dev cycle. If they are smart, it would be the same game with working voicecomms and a proper server system and the commander and a tactical side of it, like BF2 had it. I mean PS2 is pretty close to it, but there is still room between your standard 32 slot multiplayer and 100vs100 battle. There is no need to add 200 new guns or camos or whatever, people already liked your game fucking years ago. Really I would be happy with BF2 in the frostbite engine.

They also need to realize that the single player campaign is not why people buy Battlefield games and that they are not competing with CoD, they are competing with Planetside and the likes. A new SP campaign however good it is, is not a justification for a full price (or too high price in this case) if there are no significant changes in MP. I don't need to buy a new BF every other year which has a new single player campaign and almost the same MP. Make SP a fucking expantion pack and sell it to me for 15-20 € (i won't buy it, but others might).

Now look, I'm angry about BF3 again, which I wanted to love but haven't played in ages.

Is it? I don't follow the pre-release announcements, because they are often bullshit (not just for BF mind you). But if they bring it back, good on them. BF3 wasn't bad, but I played BF2 a lot more, so something was missing for me I guess.

Don't know how I feel about this game. Pretty ambivalent.

I played bf2 a lot more but I was a uni student with nothing to do when it was out. I think bf3 was the better game is most regards. Destructability, not getting randomly artied/bombed all the time, insanely immersive gfx+sound.

Now if you were gonna compare bf3 with 2142...

2142 is probably the most mechanically interesting, but they kept breaking titan mode, and its still pretty unplayable today due to laggy servers kinda ruins it.

In ME3 it worked like this: You bought packs either via ingame currency or real money and they contained random stuff. More expensive crates have more/better stuff in them etc. There is no other way to unlock guns.
They also actually contained straight up upgrades to guns. Not sure if they'll go that far with BF4.

So yay, more unlocking shit, I was looking forward to finally playing a game where I can do that.

No see, the unit numbers sold clearly show that they aren't. CoD will be bought a magnitude of times more, no matter how much they try to come close to it with a "totally believable" and gritty single player campaign. And bringing their MP mode closer to CoDs would be even dumber than that.

The bad thing is though, the more they try, the more they drive their original fanbase away. I was pretty happy when EA went with the "MoH is our new CoD clone series now" route, but we all know how that ended up. I'm just worried, that they are wasting way too much manpower and other ressources trying to come close to CoD in SP department, leaving the MP a fucking cripple even compared to previous installments of the same game series (not talking about the technical side, but the gameplay systems). The PR campaign will all SP footage doesn't really help.

If SP is so important, where are the new SP campaigns for BF3 within their premium offer? Nowhere, that's where, because no one gives a fuck.

They had a poll on battlelog. 90% of players wanted MP. I don't think Dice have amanged to convince EA though.

Commander mode has been mentioned on promotional flyers and stands that EA has been given to Gamestop and the likes so its pretty much confirmed. Also theyre showin multiplayer at their E3 pressconference tomorrow so expect to see something there about it, Im sure theyll milk the fact they brought one of the most demanded features back eventho Itll probably be a lot different.

Man, I just want 2143. 2142 is the best Battlefield, had the best maps, the best guns and Titan mode was awesome allthough quite buggy. I still prefer it over any other BF, Bad Company 1 is close there too.
