Which custom maps do you want to see on Server 1?
There's a maximum of 3 votes per person and votes can be changed. I'll run it for a week. Further feedback welcome.

I like all of those, apart from castle. But my favourites (snakewater and process) are rarely picked on pubs. Still better to have them as an option than junction or yonder's beloved turbine hydro, no?

Well it looks like the top three maps are:
snakewater (no contest there) barnblitz_pro (a bit of a surprise) process (Karthus's nemesis)
So I suggest we start with those and see how they work out unless anyone thinks differently.

What maps are actually on the server? I thought we already had Barnblitz or did it get taken off? Also what about maps like cp_coldfront and obscure?

We have non_pro Barnblitz I thought we had cp_coldfront because I remember always nominating it and it always losing in the vote but I've just checked and I think we've lost it. I suggest we put that back on since nothing terrible happened when we had it. We don't have obscure. It's really only the official maps. Apart from doomsday which seems to be absent...what a shame  If the pilot works I see no reason why we can't try more anyway.

cool  Overall, I think that the problem with less desirable maps is that they tend to show up in the voting pool nearly always at the same time and it tends to be a case of picking the lesser evil. Is there a way to program it to prevent that? And, since pro_barnblitz is being added, make it so that it shows up to vote at the same time that barnblitz does (so it you won't risk a barnblitz marathon or something)? And does adding custom maps affect the server receiving the quickplay crowd? While I like those maps that have been selected, I suppose it might harm the server to lose that influx of people if that is the case.

It would be good to tweak the map vote in some way.
Looking at the majority of the players on Fridays, most will already have the maps loaded so losing people too impatient to wait for the map to download shouldn't be an issue.
Custom maps do affect quickplay. For this reason we'll be putting them on the menu so that they can be nominated and voted on, but not on rotation. This way they won't come up automatically. Though would this be a problem....most maps are voted on anyway.
To a certain extent, people self-manage servers, voting for more popular/common maps when numbers are low. The bet is the custom maps would mainly be played/voted for at server peak when most of the people on are regs who'll stay.
Anyhow, we can see how it goes.

We tried the new maps on the server tonight.
We started with snakewater but unfortunately half the people on the server found they couldn't download the map and kept disconnecting. This isn't something that usually happens. I regularly play on servers where I've needed to download custom maps.
Deadly took a look and found that the file limit was set very low. He had a tweak and hopefully that will solve the problem.
To test it, we'll simply seize a f2p who we know has none of the custom maps and force them to try to download maps on the server until we're sure it works.
Alternatively, Deadly can just remove a map from his TF2 and try to join the server when it's empty.
