For a really good burger find a burger wagon or an independent cafe (UK style cafe). Look for the places where the people in the florescent coats are.
Burger King aren't too bad though.

You want good burgers...you could try these http://www.gbk.co.uk/or http://www.edseasydiner.com/index.php (not exactly genuine but fun, nicely done!) Both have easy to find branches in Central London. These will give you a decent burger, though there are better burgers to be had elsewhere as Mili says but they may take finding. You can google them. Burger King will be cheap.

There's a Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Dublin. Assuming the ones in London are as good I'll third that suggestion.

Burger King sure aren't gourmet burgers, but they're an experience on their own. I'd suggest both. Gourmet burgers are hardly even burgers, it's a minced steak on a bun If you've never had a Burger King and you want one, do it - XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger. NOM.

To get the full English eating experience you also have to experience a Full English Breakfast http://britishfood.about.com/od/faq/f/breakfast.htm (not just for breakfast), Fish & Chips and a Donner Kebab. There is also the Scottish eating experience which would shorten your life by years (Deep fried Mars Bars, Battered Pizza etc)

Right about breakfast! Full English with builders tea or a coffee, the morning after a long day (or boozing) is just the ticket. Had a really small breakfast? Full English for lunch.
NOM.
But hes going to London for a London experience...
Cockles. Pie and Mash. Jellied Eels.
NOM.

challenge 25 is so disgustingly stupid. The drinking age is too high as it is, who cares if a few underage people get served bleh. The amount of time wasted on catching out establishments who serve people is ridiculous, and carrying around valuable photo ids while drunk is not a super idea either, replacements are expensive or they could be stolen and used for fraud. That said theres still a ton of places that blatantly don't care. Last time I was in a club it was full of 16 year olds, which is when I and everyone else in birmingham starts/started clubbing anyway. Security will be tight on new years but places will care less at other times, they are way more likely to check on fridays and saturdays than other days.

Sonic promise me you won't visit london and go to gourmet burger kitchen. Tasty as GBK is you may as well be in Milton Keynes if you're eating inside one. Go meat market. They serve alcoholic milkshakes.

It's still a non-french burger experience that can be combined easily with New Year jolifications and/or fighting games for those short of time.

If you plan on hitting the arcades, take a quick trip to the Casino Leisure Centre on Goodge Street. Should be pretty easy to get to - I take a trip there each time I'm in London.
If their machines are in good order, this is where most of the sharks will be hanging out.
They've got a bad rep for taking care of machines, but a good rep for the skill level that use them.
