There's quite a bit of desire to create a 6v6 team of people mostly new to competitive, so we can get some proper practice and take our games to the next level. I think we have Berath, Cautet and me at the moment, so we need 3 more at least (probably a soldier, a scout and a medic or soldier). Who's in?

UKCS is certainly a source. We want to get some generally interested people but also people who can play reasonably often to form some sort of core.

I'm happy to be a scout, soldier, or whatever to be honest. In fact i'm probably better off as scout as we have better soldiers than me already.  How many people do we need? 1? Or do we need some extras so we can ensure availability?

I was talking to some French guy today who is setting up a div 5 team who are also going to need a ton of practice so maybe could be helpfull we get set up and play a ton of games against them.

One more, but, yes, maybe we should also think about people's availabilty and get extras, people who know they won't be able to play as much. If we have 4/5 more regular people we could have floaters (this is getting  to sound a bit lavatorial)

We also need to think about classes, me Demo and could manage medic.

Once formed, as well as your contact Cautet there are several other teams we could play against, I'm pretty sure we could arrang games playing reloaded for sure. The thing is we're going to be very new so any team above that level will roll us.

But someone posted on my blog and said when he started they were all  new apart from one and week after week they were rolled by Div 6 teams but suddenly it seemed to click and they started to do better. They still had fun whatever, which is what it's all about Cheesy

Am I right in thinking so far we have Berath as demo, Yer man and Fraac as soldiers and me and Omni as scouts? I'm assuming Omni as scout as he is a sick sniper and spy - and they are played by one of the scouts right? These roles are carried out by the offensive scout right?

With scouts and soldiers do we have set offensive and defensive roles that we train and stick with or do we just decide at the start of each game?

So we basically need a medic right? Or have I got the roles wrong? And how many floaters do we need? 3?

In terms of practice I am around most weekday evenings depending on workload. Weekends I can do Sat mornings but rest of weekend is tricky for me. Would be great if we could have something going on every night.

When do we need to submit a team? How many can be in the team as submitted?

I've seen Omni play most classes. Yer man can pick from soldier or medic. If we wanted to play in the league, which would be super cool, it's just started so we'd have to be ready for the next one. Cautet, have you seen this: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/6v6newmix. I've been playing them. Not as good as playing with the same people but still plenty useful.

Offclassing is usually either a scout or a soldier, doesn't really matter which.
As for set roles, I reckon both soldiers should be able to pocket and roam, so we can rotate soldiers in different situations. Also, that way we don't end up with a soldier like Jebus who is a terrible pocket Wink.

To add to this, the roamer/pocket distinction doesn't have to be inflexible, but it's good to have a general idea of their main role. For example, if the pocket dies the roamer may want to fall back to the medic, or if you're capturing something like badlands spire you may want to swap over to keep everyone's health up.

What Jebus has said about scouts is correct, too. Sometimes you'll want to be together, sometimes split up. No aggressive/defensive distinction, just good comms between the scouts to make sure everything is covered at any given time.

Agree with this, there are only scouts who have an aggressive playstyle and those who do not. Both scouts just need to respond to calls, particularly if their scout partner calls a low health target or medic location etc.
