This really is about time. There are some seriously good games that Valve have rejected for Steam distribution because they "don't meet their customer needs" - maybe this will put a stop to that. |

Found something I can copy and paste: Valve have just announced Steam Greenlight. The new service will work like the Steam Workshop, but for indie games. Creators can submit their work for rating by gamers, and the best rated games will then enter Valve’s approval process for inclusion in the Steam store. |

while i approve of downvotes in general, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense for assessing if a game will sell. Tons of scumbags could hate your game but that only means more publicity and sales from the people who actually like it. Maybe they realise that and criteria for selection isn't just (+votes - -votes) but some function of the total votes.

They specifically said there's no "magic number" to hit. If a game is getting attention and gaining momentum publicity wise they're not going to ignore it just because a downvoting campaign is adversely affecting whatever ranking it has. |
