Welcome to the official WDG streaming post/FAQ thing.
As we've had several members getting interested in streaming recently it seemed like a good idea to create a proper clan channel for these activities and try to build up some activity and traffic from it.
I've created a channel for WDG over at twitch.tv (you can find the link below). I can then get a streaming key sent to any clan member or regular who is interested, which they can then use to stream to the channel. If you're interested in streaming, fantastic, I'll try and include some useful links to get you started below. If not, you can still get involved by watching other people stream, talk in the chat on twitch and make requests & suggestions.

- An account on twitch. You can sign up by visiting the
twitch.tv site and clicking on the button in the top-right corner.
- A streaming program. Everyone here as far as I know uses
Xsplit. You'll also need an account with Xsplit to reach the download links.
Once you've got those two, you need to get the Xsplit set up. I could go into a guide here, but Cruelcow linked me to an excellent one yesterday written by someone much smarter than me, so I'll just go ahead and link that.
Streaming 101 (Xsplit guide)I recommend playing around with settings and doing some test broadcasts to start with. When you're good to go, drop me a message and I'll get you set up with a key to stream directly to the WDG channel. Any problems you can contact me on Steam or by PM.
Also, extra special bonus, I've prepared a WDG background to use for streaming if your screen capture doesn't quite fill the whole 1280x720. Find it
here.
Streaming GuidelinesFew quick guidelines before you hit that "Broadcast" button.
- Content rules are pretty much same as we have on the forums. No pornography, nothing illegal, keep it (reasonably) clean. As always, banter is good, just being deliberately offensive makes for sad pandas.
- Double check that no-one else is streaming, if you start it will kick them off. Also double check that there are no other events on that people may wish to stream before you're done (Highlander matches and such like). I'll create a thread for people to announce their intent to stream to try and avoid clashes.
Streaming IdeasRough idea of what it would be nice to see on the channel if people are interested:
- TF2 matches. This could be ETF2L 6v6, Highlander, mixes, whichever. Either POV from an interested party or even someone on SourceTV doing a cast and commentary if anyone is up for that. Partly to provide something interesting for the community and also to make it easier for people interested in competitive play to watch some matches and see how it works.
- Co-op & other multiplayer. Think four player games like L4D, Payday, N64 netplay, that sort of thing. Ideally things which you have several players and can be chatted over the top of.
- Whatever else you fancy. If no-one else is streaming go ahead and stream single player games like I did with Amnesia last night. If you do this chatter over the top to your hearts content and keep an eye on the twitch chat. Just prioritise the multiplayer side of things if possible.
Besides that, any suggestions/requests go ahead and discuss here.
Other useful stuffShiftWindowXsplit sometimes has issues displaying full-screened games. You can use this to achieve a borderless windowed mode in games that wouldn't otherwise support it.
