Make sure you installed all the updates mama, some servers need beta updates which aren't served on steam automatically. There are some updates on Bohemia Interactive page

There has also been some issues with the 1.7.2 patch that they're trying to hotfix at the moment. Some nice additions, but some awful bug crept in.

If you've got a lot of nice loot at the minute, be very careful.

I could only get on servers that were at night. Kinda sucked when your miles from main city's. Daytime servers were just laggy and bugging

Minecraft was alpha 2009 and DayZ is still in Alpha now. Considering this, DayZ is just as polished as Minecraft was and it already has more features than MC alpha, considering it's a mod.

So had 2 lives so far:

1st: crawled into a harbor area, hid in a building, 3 guys came in, I spyed on them, they spotted me, I got a crossbow to the face.

2nd: A lot more long winded, I was all tactical n shit, raided an entire area during the night, picked up an unholy amount of various ammo, but no guns. When, after much searching, I did find a gun, i heard gun shots of someone nearby shooting zombies. I hid in a barn, hoping not to be found, probs a stupid place since it's one of the better places to find stuff i.e. search. So the guy came in, I was hiding on a floor above him, I stupidly moved, thus making noise, so he came up the stairs, gun drawn. Instead of actually talking, maybe see if he was friendly (i realise slim chance), I shot first, where I thought was his friggin jaw. The game disagreed though it seems, he popped off one round from his pistol and I was dead.

the thing is now day z have said they plan going standalone, i'm not sure arma2 is a good investment at all. Certainly not even worth £15 to me, too boring. Bohemia can get fucked ill give day z money when they hit pay-for-alpha stage.
