Fair enough. The online features (scribblings on the floor, bloodstains that show how a random person died at that spot) are the stuff that especially interests me.
I think Ill pick the game up once Im coming down a bit from my GW2 trip.

I definitely enjoyed playing the game on the PS3. It's really refreshing to play a game that has an old-school feel where you get a little further every time but even once you've got really far if you revisit an old area it's still not really easy and you can die if you don't pay attention. I'd get the PTD edition if I hadn't already got it on PS3, might grab it in a sale.

It's just overall a really good game. Great art design, extremely well delivered story, spot on combat, completely innovative gameplay mechanics. Probably one of my favourite games of all time.

I (re)bought dark souls this evening. After a 4 hour session I've just got to the blacksmith (just before gargoyle fight I do believe).
Weird that I already got invaded once, it never happened to me on PS3.
Also, are there any differences between DS and the PTD edition? The game seems more finished than before, lol.

Maybe some bug fixes. I still not made it to blacksmith but kindled first bonfire last night so should be in with a chance next time I play.

I've noticed that the game is a bit harder when you play through again, because you're a bit better at fighting things, so you do less grinding (unless you grind for fun) so you have less souls to spend.
First time I played I spent ages on undead burg and by the time I got to the first boss fight I beat him in one go.
It's an interesting mechanic.

I actually have found the game a lot easier then from my first playthrough because I know where I'm going and how to fight the enemies. This means that I die less and lose souls less often.

This is like any other difficult game that I would have stopped playing by now or would have tuned down the difficulty, but Dark Souls for whatever reason keeps me going. Maybe its because the percentage of bullshitdeaths has been fairly low (I sometimes glitched off a bridge or an enemy does a combo you cant block), maybe its because the bossfights and the quiet atmosphere remind me of Shadow of the Colossus. But its damn adictive, also fuck that second boss fight, I wasted 2 hours trying to defeat it alone because the first time I tried to summon the Sun NPC, someone else invaded me and killed him off. Trying that boss alone is almost impossible, especially when this happens roughly 2 hours into the game, what do you expect someone completely new to the game to do in that situation??
Anyway I was scared of the combat, but it has grown on me, the game really wants you to get good at it and be disciplined, thats what I appreciate about it.

Which boss do you mean by the second? The Taurus demon (counting asylum as the first) or the gargoyles?
If you mean the gargoyles (which I think you do) I struggled with them on my first (PS3) playthrough but it's strange how easy they were on my second, third and fourth plays.

I beat them first time just using solaire. Second time I had a random friendly summon and he absolutely cained everything.
Gargs are a hard boss tho. If I have one complaint about DS it's that some of the most insanely hard stuff is near the start, it actually gets a bit easier once you've rung both bells imo.. I think... actually maybe not.

It depends what gear you get. I started a knight who I rushed the drake tail sword (from the hellkite dragon who sits on the bridge) and the elite knight gear from darkroot garden and I'm literally strolling about obliterating everything and I can tank damage like a champ anyway. Once I get hard enough I'll go kill havel for that sweet ring and I'll be rolling around like a badman and no one will be able to stop me, until the drake sword is useless because it doesn't scale with anything.
Also when do you think the best time to use large titanite is? I often wonder if I should use it asap to upgrade or save it until later, because chances are I'll find better gear.
