I was always tempted to get it for Xbok but always kinda hesitated because I know Ill get frustrated when I die repeatedly in a videogame (exception being Limbo), but Im usually never the person that goes through a game on the hardest difficulty and enjoys playing through a part 200 times to "master" it, I always play through games on normal difficulty, and in this it seems like its a very hard challenge. A PC Release kinda gives me a reason to pass on it for a few more months but I will definitely try it out (since the price will probably be better than on console)

I don't think DS actually has any difficulty settings. I might be wrong but there's just the one. Honestly people over exagerate the difficulty in DS. It's a big game and at times an opaque one, but I didn't find it irritatingly hard, and I don't consider myself that hardcore a gamer these days. In fact I think it might actually get easier as you progress though this might have been because I grinded over the odds. There are two bonfires (like save points) near the end of the game which are sort of annoyingly placed, but only two, and they're not actually that big a deal. I don't know if you've ever played a roguelike, but most of your deaths have that roguelike feeling, like "I bit off more than I could chew there" If you enjoy games where you play the same bit over and over to master it you'll probably like DS because that's sort of what you do, but the amount of repetition is normally quite reduced because you open up shortcuts as you progress. Normally your route to the level boss is a straightforward run past a bunch of bad guys. Thinking about it it is sort of similar to Batman AA, but: - Less linear (Batman AA was ostensibly non linear, but there was only ever one way you were going to go)
- without overt collectibles (There's an achieve for getting every weapon in the game, but nothing like that built into the game that I noticed)
- With much better combat and progression (Two end game areas are item gated, but the path to get both items is open from the start if you're a bad enough dude)
- Pretty next level plot delivery with much worse voice actors
- No Batman style gymnastics
- No little investigatey puzzle solvey or stealthy bits
So not actually that similar to batman I guess. It's also a bit like a Zelda game for grown ups, or a 3D roguelike.
I should say the main draw of getting it on PC for me is that I don't have xbox multiplayer stuff, and the MP is meant to be pretty next level.

I've heard similar Karthus, but playing on my own has seemed sort of weird, there's no messages or bloodstains left by other people and I have to summon AI for help. There does seem some annoying stuff like invaders who've specifically worked their stuff to invade low level worlds and gank people, but I think it would add a bit more risk/reward to some of the choices (You make choices that can change whether someone can invade your world or not)
Failing that the game probbaly has an offline mode like the xbox. I've just heard a lot of people say that playing it online is probably closer to the true experience.
Also shut up tommy.

Wait do you mean if you dont have a gold membership you dont even see the messages? That sucks indeed, I thought that was a brilliant way of player interaction, sort of like in Journey on the PS3 where you do have player interaction but on a very primitive level and without knowing exactly who is on the other end.
(Man I want a PS3 so bad)

Yeah you don't see dick without gold, it's purely offline.
PS3 seems to be a better partner to a gaming PC tbh. Xbox is alright but the best exclusives all seem to be PS3.
