Pretty sure this is going to be a common problem for some of us. If you have a 64 bit system and installed a game that uses the VC 2005 runtime then your msdia80.dll will just be on a random drive root. I tried installing the service pack update as the article suggests but that doesn't work, just move it to the right folder and run the command to register the dll in an admin command window. Its a security issue having a dll sitting on a random drive root and just takes a minute to fix (also it was annoying me while I was tidying up some files).

You need display hidden files turned on as well, or windows will probably hide the dll from you.
