As a result of on-going stability issues we've been experiencing over the last few months, the cause of which seems to be unknown (Jebus joining the server and a possible sourcemod plugin issue are possible culprits! ) I have just completed a complete reinstall of the TF2 server and sourcemod/plugins.

There are a few things that will probably need tweaking that hasn't been transferred from the old config, but I'm hoping that this should improve the stability of the server.

If anyone has any issues, please post them here and I will take a look.

I'd also like to apologise for the instability, with TF2 becoming less popular I know it's difficult to get a game going in the first place - the server crashes certainly don't help and it usually stops a gaming session dead in its tracks. Like I said - I don't know what the cause of the issue is, but I am hoping that this should resolve it and gaming sessions should go un-hindered from now on.

Certainly here but in other communities it's still growing. Last night also proved that with a good map choice and a bunch of regs to start it all off it isn't a chore to get the sever full regularly again.

Me and Deadly had a discussion regarding server configuration, and that's one of the tweaks that resulted. The aim was to bring the server in line with Valve's requirements for server to be registered to recieve traffic from the quickplay feature.

So, what this means for the community is, the play experience will be slightly different to what we're used to, but in return it should be easier to fill up the server and get games going. We felt that this was a fair trade off, and at least worth a try.

The specific changes that were made are:

- Player count decreased to 24 (plus hidden slots, so reserved slots should still work as previously)
- respawnwavetime returned to default. This may result in slightly longer spawns on some maps.
- Critical hits turned on.

The latter was my major concern, as I was one of the people happiest about the introduction of the crit vote. However, hopefully traffic will be worth it. Another motivation in the removal here was a reduction in the number of sourcemod elements temporarily in an attempt to identify the cause behind server instability.

Just to say, it seems to be working at the moment....have we had any server crashes?? Don't think so, sure someone will correct me otherwise.

Getting Quickplay seems to be working too. Traffic is still a little variable; maybe because the server isn't used all the time our grading might not be the best, but generally we have had enough people through to allow clan and community members who want to play TF2 to have some games on a full/fuller server.

Having a fuller server running all evening has allowed a few regs who haven't been on for a while to drop in for a round or two, as well, which is nice 

(as for crits, they seem to be the price we pay to play TF2 on the server with a decent number of players atm, though I'm still neutral on them. Apparently Valve have mentioned allowing non-crit servers into Quickplay and just lowering their weighting, but don't seem to have done anything yet)

I've not seen any crashes, which is great news! The quickplay is filling your server up a bit more, when there's a few people around as Berath said. Whilst this is a good thing, a lack of admin presence at times might not be, though I know there's not much you can really do about that.

I still think that the server could be a little more full than it is at times. As soon as you post community events, the server fills up a little more. To that end, it seems like a good idea to give some of the more active TF2 players the ability to advertise community events?

As a reg who loves your server, it seems a shame that it's often empty, when it could be a busy and active server. Kickstarting the process for quickplay is still kind of hard with only a few people there, as new joiners leave before the server really gets a foothold in activity.

Just trying to spark some suggestions from the perspective of a reg. With a server that looks like a ghost town at times, spamming invites out to regs that are playing on other servers isn't very effective, because they want to play a packed game. Leaving a more populated server to try to ignite a server with 3 players, often isn't high on the priority list for some players.

Also in regards to server config, the advertising plugin is still pimping things like the crit plugin, although they aren't active.

Really glad the server has some life in it now!
