I just realised whilst discussing with cruel that all this shitiness about patch times is because of the deal ea made with sony. EA fudged the preorder deals for the ps3 version from what i remember and put on their whore lipstick and made up with sony by offering 1 week exclusives on all patches and dlc. Which is a stupid fucking deal.

I can deal with the dlc delay but the 1 week exclusive on patches is why we are getting patches horrendously late. Because the patch has to pass ps3 certification first (which sucks and takes ages) and then it gets released for the ps3 and then we have to wait a week. Otherwise this would have been a feb patch for pc if they weren't bending over for sony.

Anyway 27th for ps3. Probably april 3rd for us. Full patch notes next week.

I can testify to cert in Sony not taking ages, so this part of it is entirely not true. Simple fact of the matter is, they've been awful at patching full stop.

So you have 1 week of exclusivity, and potentially 2 weeks for certification if it fails once, plus development time to please sony. 3-4 weeks delay because of sony and failed certifications seems non-trivial. I would rather see the patch a month earlier and get a hotfix later than wait for ps3 issues to be fixed.

I am guessing though based on certification times quoted for other games and what the bf3 blog has briefly said.

This whole patch dilemma and all the shitstorms about some of the developer team giving wrong information and insulting the community (zh1nt0) is so humiliating for DICE. In my opinion Battlefield 3 is such a disappointment, I remember when they promised consistent patchsupport and esportsoriented additions (Battlerecorder), I know its nothing new that DICE hypes up their games to no limit, but this is just a fucking mess. I dont know if Im actually still looking forward to this patch, its been what, like 5 fucking months?

sony are stupid though. Betamax failed because they wouldn't allow porn companies to use it for their videos.. and that's a HUGE market lost

* Fixed AA missiles not doing damage to vehicles moving at very high speeds (This is the much wanted heatseaker fix)
* Fixed TV Missile doing much more damage than it should (it is no longer a 1-hit kill)
* Tweaked tank armor strength
* MAV elevatoring fix, round 2; proning on the MAV will now disable it

Still need to uncock tv missile. I can understand not wanting it to be 1hk but hopefully it's still pretty meaty for a dead on hit from behind.

i'm still waiting for m26 nerf. I just got headshotted by a guy hiding behind some concrete and all i could see was the very top of his head like tiny target, and he was just headshotting over it. The main problem with it isn't that is particularly overpowered by itself, but assault has all the noob cannon guns and defibs, and now they can carry a 1 hit kill underslung (thats way more reliable than m320 and has a mag) for when they want to start camping. Not so severe a problem on conquest or heavy vehicle rush but assault already destroyed on infantry/light vehicle rush and now people are gravitating towards it and the mass and i keep seeing medic stacks which is the most un-fun thing to play against because nobody stays dead ever.

EDIT. They screwed up the dogtag db by inserting a promo tag for syndicate. Its thrown all the ids off by one now all the knifings after it are wrong as well as equipped tags. My tag was tank 5 service stars. Now its pointing at recon 100 stars LOOOL. I wondered why I was getting more abuse than normal.
