Two things:
You'll need to switch your region from Europe to The Americas as the Beta is hosted in the US and the EU servers won't be active till launch
The free weekend doesn't actually start till 8pm, so if you try and log in and it says "This account does not have a Diablo 3 license" that just means wait till 8pm

Played a bit, S'alright

Kept reminding me of Torchlight. Now I never played any of the original Diablos so I dunno who "copied" who ( I suspect at least gameplay torchlight pinched off diablos), but mainly the music, at least in towns and the cemetery are far too similar imo D:

Re torchlight.

Development of the game was led by Travis Baldree, designer of Fate, joined by Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer (co-designers of Diablo and Diablo II), and the team that worked with Baldree on the original incarnation of Mythos.

Torchlight is basically the continuation of the series by the original designers. Diablo 3 on the other hand is blizzard milking another cash cow to agonising death.

Also torchlight had a ferret in the retail version, did you get the ferret mama?

Feels like Diablo alright, but yeah, Torchlight already did Diablo in current gen engine. Still worth playing, I guess.

I liked the wizard class straight away. Nothing world-shockingly new, but I've got a feeling it's going to be worth the money.

Or at least: here's me hoping it will. Demo was promising though.

Loved it so far, done a wizard and barb run through. Especially like how your base attack is class-specific, like the wizards 4 signiture spells that generate arcane power (mana) rather than use it. Makes you feel like you are playing the class more than in D2 where you spent the first 10 levels hitting people with a stick whether you were a barb, sorc or basically any character. The auto-stat allocation is also good so you don't have to spend every point that your gear doesn't require in vitality otherwise your character would be shit no matter what class you were.
