Dumb question, but are you perhaps running the wrong patch? Maybe Revert is running the LOD patch, perhaps that runs differently Sad

I didn't do anything special, although I am using the expansion (I doubt that would cause compatability issues as it's just extra content?  SP1 Vista Junta, Ultimate ofc.

DP, before you go dual-boot, there's always VirtualBox, which runs D2 just fine, if you disable 3D acceleration.
(Added bonus of Suspending the VM mid-game, saves time loading the game Wink )

Oh, and have you tried the download versions of D2? If you register your key with blizz, you can download an installer from them (doing this w/ StarCraft right now...), maybe those work better... Compatibility Mode anyone?

Disclaimer: I do not have a Vista install, and as such am not able to validate any claims. But looks like I need to get one soon, to be able to help people better. Know Your Enemy, as I say... Cheesy

I can vouch for VirtualBox - I use it for legacy development. Works a treat for a free app.

Virtual PC is also free from Microsoft - its great but will not install on Vista Home Premium (business or ultimate only). I cannot believe Microsoft did this tbh! Especially since VPC runs well on XP platforms etc.

I have got virtual pc but havent tried it yet...sods laws is it now installs.However only one thing is different. Instead of putting the install and play disks in seperate drives i used the same drive all the way thru the install...seems to work...just starting to install LOD now.

Thanks for the heads up on virtual box thou...i love new toys Smiley

The downloaded version works! Yay!

All it needed was a newer installer version - runs well too (under Vista).

I was able to create a Blizzard account and register my game CD's. Then downloaded the new installer and all done.

Thanks Mark - worked a treat.

Will get the add-on pack now that I know it works. Cheesy
