So I have this cheap smartphone and I need some good apps/games so I can show it off use it to it's full potential.

Suggestions?

Shazam is great for when you hear a random song out in a bar or playing on a youtube video and you just have to know which song it is. Works in crowded and loud conditions very well

Don't know if you talk a lot about movies, but I'm using the IMDB app a lot. Also great to watch trailers.

Games wise, I recommend Gem Miner, Air Control and Game Dev Story; I'd also recommend a brightness widget if you don't trust the auto brightness and a task killer if things start slowing down horribly.

the problem i have is organising my apps (although i have an app for that) and actually using them to their full potential. Theres a few apps I wish would fold into one another though, a bunch of stupid music things I have installed. Also the official ebay app is terrible, it gives you notifications of auctions ending at approximately 30 mins and 15 mins with no settings and no guarantee the notifications go off :/ awesome.

Heh, if I had programmed that app, the answer would be "Above you" every time.

There are loads of apps to choose from. Spanning everything from the useful, to the bizarre to the down right crap. My advise would be to always read the user reviews before downloading. Also, free means "free adverts". But the easy workaround for this on games is to just put the phone into airplane mode before playing them.

As for apps:

Adobe Reader

sSpeak TTS - Used for the GPS navigation. Text To Speech

Flashlight - A simple app that makes your screen white at full brightness. Useful if your camera doesn't have a LED flash.

Gauge battery widget - (by Tomas Hubalek)On my HTC the battery status icon is rubbish. So a more accurate gauge is always handy.

Google Goggles - Fun app for trying to recognize everything from objects to faces to things. But works very well on bar codes.

Google Street View - Use with Google maps.

Google Reader - RRS feeds, blogs and the like.

Google Sky Map - Deadly is right, fantastic little app for making sense of the night sky.

Google Translate - Handy gadget for communication.

Solitaire - (by Klondike) There are loads of different versions out there. I'm using Klondike, but run in airplane mode or it loads the adverts first and it will slow the game down.

Sudoku - (by Genina) Another game to be played in airplane mode.

Metal detector - (by last minuet labs) Handy if you want to drill into a wall and don't know where the cables and pipes are.

WiFi Analyzer - (by Farproc) Useful for sniffing out the best WiFi spots.

edit2, by clicking the phone icon in gmail chat, it enables the account for google voice, but functionality is limited to making calls out - so no google phone number, no multiple phones ringing/nifty filter settings, no voicemail.

well like I said i've not setup or tested it yet. Couldn't sign in at all before whereas now I can visit the voice site, install the app and such. I hope this means they are about to roll it out properly and not we are getting half assed access just for gchat functions.
