pre 5 is out, fingers crossed our host has it up sometime tomorrow. Although its clashing spectacularly with tf2 Halloween and bf3 :/.

guys I think the other thread was meant to be somewhere to grab the ip and details quickly.
Pre 5 is still not available from our host, have been giving them some time to test stuff as it came out late last week, have sent them a ticket now though as its been awhile.

they said we have to upload it ourselves but yeah, they are letting us upload our own server jar, will do that tomorrow when they've made the necessary changes.

I'm sceptical about adding mods for a number of reasons like compatibility, difficulty in keeping them up to date and the fact that a lot of them are just balls. However I am open to suggestions, assuming we are able to run mods. Disco?

What's a live map? The craftable maps definitely have some issues (mainly that they're all centered on spawn) but other than that what is the advantage?

updated, grab pre5 from http://assets.minecraft.net/1_9-pre5/minecraft.jarI probably should have reminded everyone the nether was getting deleted, it has been now to regenerate it with the new nether content. Just ask me via steam if you had anything significant in the nether or you need a little obsidian to rebuild your nether-side portals. Some of the most significant additions are repairing tools, animal breeding, enchanting, and potion crafting as well as the end game. There are some new in-game achievements to guide you towards the new trades and the end game. |

Because it's been switched to the pre release you need to get the pre 5 client. Then you have to do something else. Someone who understands how to run the pre releases please comment here.

download from the link i just posted. http://assets.minecraft.net/1_9-pre5/minecraft.jarthen copy it into users/??lully/appdata/roaming/.minecraft/bin appdata is hidden usually so the fastest way to reach it is launch minecraft and click texture packs on the main menu then open texture packs folder. That will open up /.minecraft/texturepacks just go up one level then into the bin folder. You need to replace the existing minecraft.jar, you should probably rename the old one 1.8.1 first, just in case you need to switch back at some point. |
