I've started watching Utopia

It was on C4 a while ago, I recorded it but didn't watch it.

The first episode kicked off with the slaughter of the staff and customers of a comic book store, as the protagonists (hired by a mysterious 'Network') tried to track down a 'Jessica Hyde' and the manuscript of the sequel to a graphic novel called The Utopia Experiment.

They then turned their attention to the members of internet chat forum formed around the novel.....

UK television tends to period dramas, grim urban drama (council estates, drug gangs, struggling single mothers) or programmes about medical staff/the police :/

This is different, dark and quite cinematic, witty too. Very refreshing so far. Mind you it could all finish on a council estate somewhere with a lady in a bonnet.

No I mean there was a TV Show The Newsroom back in 2004 or 2005 but now that I looked it up, it doesn't seem to be the same as the first one was a comedy.

Well in addition to the new series of Archer starting a couple of weeks ago, I also found out about Bob's Burgers thanks to Doddy.

I find it absolutely hilarious - it has the voice of Archer as Bob and Kristen Schaal (flight of the conchords, the stegosaurus from toy story) and every episode has made me laugh out loud. It reminds me a bit of outnumbered (but it's animated and set in a burger restaurant).

Worth a watch!

I'm looking for a new tv series but it's a bit barrent at the moment. Most stuff I think sounds interesting seems to be on Sky Atlantic.

Mind you, I've a huge backlog of Walking Dead to get through

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (the new comedy detective show with Andy Samberg of Lonely Island/SNL fame) is actually pretty good, would recommend it. It won two Golden Globes the other day if that helps.

Also been watching the Tomorrow People as despite the fact that it's trashy as hell. I'm jonesing for a sci-fi show in the absence of Doctor Who and it sure isn't going to be Agents of Shield.

I tried to get in to the Tomorrow People but I've seen the UK version with them running around 70's Britain in flares, collars the width of your palm and groovy hairstyles and it just didn't have the same cool factor.

They're both 'adult' (not as in porn, but as in aimed at an adult audience) cartoons. I don't know if they're shown on TV over here but I know Archer is definitely on Netflix - I've been watching Bob's Burgers through a streaming site (let me know and I'll send you the link).
