Does anyone else feel like British television is a massive joke? Most dramas are laughably poor in either budget or talent or both, reality TV is a staple in the schedules along with whatever 'LOOK AT ABNORMAL PEOPLE AND FEEL BETTER' documentaries happen to be accompanying.

And as for Doctor Who, look at that giant bleeping wasp (amongst other cringeworthy moments) and tell me British TV has a shred of credibility left.

british TV isn't a joke, just cheap. they try to do everything they do in the US for half (or less) of the cost.

the BBC still cranks out tons of programs that don't appeal to the lowest common denominator, but they show it on digital which no-one watches

I like to think they are more creative than US shows, yes US makes good shows, but omfg do they all fit a formula !!  Every show has the same definition of charcters, the same production, the same camera angles.

Latest fav show - BBC three, white van man, brailliant

I also think BBC do some amazing documentries... ok the last 20 have been on space, and featured the word million more times than you can shake a stick at, but what about all the earth ones, animal ones, brilliant !!

Though I will say.... I'm pissed off that an English show last for 6 weeks.  Im not saying they should be 24... but as soon as you feel your into a season... say episode three, it's almost the end of the series.... should be 12 or so... but hey... keep things fresh i suppose ? :/

British TV is about as good as American TV. For every "amazing" American show on HBO there's an absolute LOAD of total shit. Basically the same as England.

Watched first season of Rubicon and thought it was pretty good. Really slow to start but built up to the final episodes.

Saw the first episode of Game of Thrones last night. Didn't think it was amazing but think it has potential plus has Sean Bean and Emilia Clarke (seriously hot) in it!

Just about to start Boardwalk Empire. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I think GOT suffered a bit from being a first ep and having to introduce all the characters ("hello, my brother" in dialogue, having lots of different plot threads to start without being able to concentrate on them properly) etc. Plus having read the books I knew the plot. Still, it was amazing to see the world brought to life, I think they've done a great job on the artistic side.

HBO have already confirmed a second season, I'm not too worried about the show being cancelled, once a bit more action starts word of mouth should start bringing people in.
