Farcry 2 was like.. nearly fun, but in the end it got so monotonous that I gave up. Ambushing convoys was quite fun, but the actual mission missions were pretty terrible...
Possibly it would have benefitted from playing on a very high difficulty level

Far Cry 2 was fun for a few hours while you look at the pretty scenery and shoot bad guns. Then you start getting malaria, your guns break and realise that the bad guys are actually using wallhacks. Plus the whole thing where every mission is pretty much identical.

Agreed. I liked setting up explosives on the road, then climbing to the top of a nearby mountain and waiting for them to pass before detonating remotely. That made me happy. |

It only was the same if you did it in the same way. I also got frustrated by respawning outposts at first, but then I started to get creative about it. Using the cars less and instead using rivers more or just sneaking past them on foot or ambushing them, or sniping them from very far away or setting fire around them or using explosives and so on and so on. Yes, many missions are "go there, shoot that", but that's what a shooter is, I guess. Be creative about it, it's not like they gave you only one weapon to do it.
Technically the game is amazing anyway, the gameplay is not everyones taste, but as will all open world games, it's what YOU do with it.
