According to some community manager on the Bioware forums (ie, unreliable source) the standard version will be on Steam after the Origin launch and the Delux-Super-Overpriced-Wanker version will be Origin only. I'll be waiting for the Steam version personally.

It has very annoying stuff like the mako and clunky shooting but you should still play it for the storys sake. 1 is more important to get into 3, 2 was more of a sidestory kinda.

Definitely worth playing, but I'll have to agree on the Mako Missions being some of the more annoying parts. Still an awesome story which I greatly enjoyed.

This, and the do the opposite (all the side quests) for ME2; some of the side quests are the best bits.

Aye the buggy is annoying but just as annoying as looking for resources in 2. I really enjoyed ME1 though and would definately consider it worth it, even if just to make a charactor to carry into the next ones.

Spent the last 2 days on finishing the first game again, will play 2nd now, because -the stupid idiot I am- I lost my savegame and I dont want to go into 3 completely naked and having the game tell me what I did previously. (also I saved Wrex this time FOCK YEAH)

Ughhh I had a far better memory of Mass Effect 1. This was my first time playing it again after 2 came out and it just feels so inferior. One might argue that they butchered any RPG-element in 2, but I still feel that the inventory system and all that stats crap felt so out of place, it just made you waste time on unlocking crates and weapon lockers and filling your inventory until it told you its full, so you had to spent 5 minutes on sorting out stuff. Annoying and unnecessary.

And oh god, the mako, I hate it so much. Some of the presentation felt supercheesy and just weak, I had alot of soundglitches where battlemusic would still carry over into a "sad" cutscene and that just ruined it. Overall, I remembered 1 to be a better game somehow, its still good, but Im glad Im done with it now and can go into 2.

I so cant wait for the 3rd game. I havent watched any trailer yet and I overlooked most of the news on it (except for that coop crap which Im not gonna bother with unless theres some seperate missions outside the story) so I dont know anything about whats gonna happen. I dont care if its gonna turn out to be a worse game than 2 (which I liked alot and probably still will after finishing it again in the next few days) I just want to see how the story will end.

Demo impressions: Looks very polished. It pretty much goes into the same direction as 2 did, more action, less RPG (allthough the skillsystem is a bit more complex now), they pretty much now copied every gameplayelement of Gears of War into this (including meleefinishers allthough no chainsaw ), which I personally like, the shootyshooty feels even more intense in this and its more difficult in my opinion, you loose your shield veryyy fast, so cover is key. Gotta give credit to the sound, its cool yknow.

Shepard now seems to talk alot more on his own which at first feels irritating but I like it, gives him/her more character.

Been trying some of the coop and ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Its very challenging with randoms and the weapons you start of with suck. It has an interesting unlock system where you buy sort of-boosterpacks from the credits you earn and those contain random stuff, I got some good weapons now.

Also the intro is wellmade, it brings you into the right mood and sets the odds perfectly.

Yes, it feels harder. Though partly that's because I had a pretty hard time with the cover system, dunno if it got worse or I just unlearned working around it.

What confused me was incredible long cooldown on my abilities, I played the class with the singularity and the cooldowns were so long, I just had to shotgun through all the enemies. (Maybe I levelled wrong? In the MP your cooldown is higher with more weapons, but I didn't get to chose that in the SP?)

I'm kinda worried how they'll handle the story/continuity.

I mean Shepard "blowing up a solar system to slow down the reapers and nobody likes him now" being in the DLC of ME2 is kinda a dick move, but not even explaining it?! What about rejoining the alliance? Even assuming you DID chose the ME2 ending that made you leave Cerberus (for stupid reasons), joining the alliance just happens of screen? What about Ashley/Kaiden being a total bitch to me in ME2? Are you just magically friends with her again?
Also I'm really looking forward to how they'll explain that Cerberus wants to stop Shepard trying to save humanity....

I liked the coop more than I expected, but I kinda assume it'll get old. I'm honestly surprised they didn't put a cashshop in it, at first I thought the store is one.

I guess what theyre trying to do is get you dedicated to a certain skill rather than just putting points into all of them just for the sake of having them. I just finished Mass Effect 2 and I found the leveling up to be really boring, as Soldier you pretty much just put points into everything that was available and you would benefit from it anyway. In this (Ive only played Soldier), the cooldown on Adrenaline Shot was so high on rank 1 and 2 that I need to put points into it early to really be able to use it effectively. I can see it making the skillpointsystem more interesting. Plus the weapons affecting your cooldowns is a neat thing, from what Ive seen you will be able to choose how many guns you take in singleplayer aswell, they just didnt put that in the demo.
