This is The End is one of the best comedies of recent years. Havent laughed this much at a movie in a long time. Not a big Seth Rogen fan, I didnt really like Pineapple Express, but this one is outstanding. Just the concept itself of the actors playing themselves makes it interesting and worth watching, theres lots of good references and injokes about past projects. Danny McBride once again steals the show Cheesy

Just got back from Gravity. Would highly recommend. First film in ages where I didn't get fidgety half-way through which is high praise! Scenes with the debris hitting the shuttle etc in silence were just incredible.

Also I normally hate 3D but it really worked in this as the background was almost always black with just a few focus points so you didn't get blurring etc.

I thought it was pretty funny in general how they portrayed him as a giant drugabusing douche in the movie eventhough hes one of the calmest nicest guys in interviews and according to other actorfriends of his.

I really appreciated the distinct line between over the top cgi whenever theyd show the destroyed city and the demons running around and then the indoorscenes that feel almost like a theatre stage. If they hadnt gone for the cgi the movie would have probably cost nothing to make, but whenever action happened, it made it feel over the top like it should be. There were tons of references to other movies and I liked how they werent in your face but actually well integrated into the plot.
I guess it really is a make or break depending on if you like the actors. One of my friends who shares a similiar taste in movies hated it because he doesnt like Danny McBride.

Really enjoyed "Moneyball". I know nothing about professional Baseball nor have I ever watched a MLB game, but it had enough significance and metasports-philosophy even for outsiders and the acting was superb. Allthough I had to pause a couple times and look up more technical Baseball-terms. Had a similiar wow-effect like I had with "The Informant" where after watching the movie I found out that all that happens in it including names was fairly accurate.

They showed Indie Game: The Movie on channel 4 last night (after Charlie Brooker and 'Video Games that Changed the World, must have been gaming night on C4)

Twas good: showing the development of Braid, Fez and Super Meat Boy on the XBox. Gave a good insight into the stresses and strains of indie game development and the stresses and strains of working with indie game developers.

The interface between 'creative' nervy and slightly neurotic game developer and smooth corporate Microsoft machine could be pretty interesting.

I didn't know the developer of Braid got hassle from gamers though when the game was out. Sounded a bit grim.

Saw the Elysium Bluray last night and thought it was quite awful. Effects were amazing just like in District 9 but the story was so generic and dumb. Wasted potential. I also hate Sharlto Copley.

Robocop reboot is definately a robocop film. i.e. a big dumb action film.

If anyone plans on seeing this keep an eye on the other news ticker thingy whenever the news is on. Whoever wrote those had some fun with it.

yeah I thought it was okay, it took itself very serious but it worked out quite nice. They should have cut out that very last bit with Samuel Jackson, totally soured the taste and was so unnecessary, every dumb action moviegoer would have understood the criticism that the movie is trying to bring over.

All in all a modernized version of Robocop where they take on things that are more relevant today (the drone debate) and leaving out stuff that doesnt really fit anymore. It was interesting

"Her" was amazing. That Arcade Fire soundtrack holy shit.

I need to catch up on other Oscar nominees

Also on a Ghibli trip for the past 2 months thanks to my brother. All japanese original versions with subtitles, those Disney versions are fucking awful. Never a big animefan but those movies are great. Favorite ones sofar were Totorro as a wonderful dreamy kidsmovie and Castle in the Sky as sort of an anime Indiana Jones, really great moments, like the only Ghibli movie sofar that doesnt end too soon, Kikis Delivery Service felt like the writers just gave up? Currently we're trying to get to a livescreening of Miyazakis last movie.

Interstellar is phenomenal. I had the privilege of never seeing or hearing a thing about it, trailer or spoilers, so that enhanced it even more. Great visuals, amazing soundtrack, strong actors. Just another fantastic brainbuster from Nolan. Would rank it 3rd after Memento and Inception on my Nolan-list.

Saw it last Saturday at our new cinema.

Agree, splendid film. 3 hours is long but I think it needed it, to allow it to explore what it wanted to.

It was slightly spoilt by a small child projectile vomiting in the front, pretty dramatically, the rest of the row were moved to different seats and the staff spent about 30 mins with bin bags, disinfectant and kitchen towels clearing up, but still would recommend as even that didn't take away the impact.

So, for a sci-fi buff, you'd recommend it? Debating whether to see this or the Imitation Game.

I saw it last week at the IMAX in Nottingham (which was a bit too loud for my liking...). I thought it was a great film - yes, especially from a sci-fi point of view. I've heard that imitation game is a bit disappointing so I'm going to wait until it's out on DVD or something. Interstellar would be a much better film to see on a big screen.

Serious spoilers:
The robots in it were fucking badass. I thought they were going to be shit when they first appeared but then when it was like rolling around, picking people up and moving with such speed I was blown away. I wish all server cabinets did that!

Also, I thought the whole 5D thing was a bit stupid...I think they could have left the mind-fuckery out the film entirely and still made an awesome sci-fi film about trying to find another planet. Only particularly the room with the bookcases - the rest of it kind of made sense / felt legitimate.
