So it's on for ridiculously cheap, and free for the weekend.

What's this like? I loved DoD:S, is it like that? Or a lot more realistic?

Also, how popular's the multiplayer?

it makes dods look like a turd in a urinal. It feels like a modern shooter but fairly realistic/ww2. Its kinda how I imagine dods would be like if it came out now. Popularity is probably the big concern with getting it, i've not played in months though so I really don't know how its fairing with that.

It had less than 150 active players these last few months. Maybe the update will change this, maybe it wont.

It's more realistic than Dod:s. Dods had that insanely quick movement speed. It's like Dod x Bf3

[Power]

Okay, played about an hour of this.

Good stuff:
- Sound design: Guns, shouts, general ambient noise. Actual native speakers for russians and germans. Automatic communication system similar to BF3 and TF2 (actually seems to be even more advanced).
- Map design: is pretty good for what it's attempting to do. A lot of sneaky routes, a lot of detail.
- Guns: this just feels right, powerfull, loud, not always accurate
- Cover system: it's somewhat glitchy, but pretty advanced for what it is (Rainbow Six Vegas games are probably the closest for an idea what this is like)

Bad stuff:
- Animations: I hate pretty much everything about them. All of the animations look like they are playing in slowmotion. And some of them just look unnatural.
- Physics: Don't feel real. Death ragdolls seem to be way to light, sometimes not even crumbling, just standing next to a wall. The grenades are unpredictable and useless due to the physics as well.

Sadly the bad stuff makes it impossible for me to actually get immersed in the game. I had fun and could probably get used to it, but will decide if I buy tomorrow. Need another session.

Yeh its fun, very confusing at the start but I got used to the HUD (thanks to Brahms explaining errythin). Some stuff that annoys me (bulky and sloooow animations, long spawntimes, it also heats up my GPU like no other game?), but overall fun. Probably wont get it though, sorry gamers.

Yeah there's definitely some annoyances but I have to say it's got the best "Hardcore" mode of any game I've played. In BF and COD the hardcore mode is really an afterthought, and something like ARMA doesn't appeal to me because its hardcore mode is too boring. But in this it's all thought through really well with tonnes of little things that I wish would be in other games.

I really hope that it gets a solid little community because no other multiplayer shooter has the same level of tension and surprise.

I stayed up all night playing. Only got to honour level 50, veteran elite assault (level 4) and my mkb is at like level 21. veteran is when you are supposed to get the mkb (i have it always from pre-purchase), meh at least the mp40 is good though and the ppsh. I probably should have levelled my ppsh really, it levels faster than the mkb and gets the drum mag at level 25 which is ridicolous, the mkb just gets a bayonet and really if you are meleeing you are probably behind them anyway.

The unlock system is actually pretty similar to bf3 in terms of having a rank based on score, a class rank based on score with that class, and weapon accessories based on kills with the weapon (kill points in ro2 which you can get 9 or so for 1 kill). But somehow ro2 makes it seem way more complicated. And the buffs are kinda dumb I already have 20% suppression resist at veteran. When you get to hero you buff friendlies around you with suppression resist, and suppress enemies with your manly aroma.
