But abda thats what american servers always sounded like, only before they were talking about willies, black people, and gays. I think I prefer them insulting each other over capitalism than just generally hating on people

Meh Power, I see where you're comming from but private companies emerging into a market often has other effects such as an increase in compromised accounts and server spamming with websites.
Either way, people asked - valve listened and responded :>

an increase in compromised accounts and server spamming with websites.
But that's exactly what is happening right now? Sure there are no websites set up yet, i guess because there aren't enough items to not be able to get them through the "normal" ways, but I see multiple scamming reports and trading offers daily. Today even in russian.

Barry Average scammed me, I traded him a GRU and he only gave me a Dr's Dapper Topper.

I'm with Power. Money corrupts transactions (and I'm far from anti-capitalist). A lot of what they're doing seems counter to the spirit of the game. TF2 was rather casual as fp shooters go and as soon as you give people incentives to rip each other off, it gets a bit nastier. I'd feel better about it if the items were 5-10% of their current cost.
Of course there's no compulsion to buy, but I don't like the way some pub servers have devolved into trade houses and I don't like duelling/fish kills either. Bah, grump.

There are some marking themselves as trade servers as far as i'm aware, incidentally has anyone updated the motd to say no excessive trade spam? Its common sense but i'm sure the pub scrubs need telling.
One thing I was uncomfortable with when steam wallet first got announced as a standalone useless thing, was their security is still shit. Many of our accounts massively outvalue WoW accounts and yet security measures don't even come close to what Blizzard offers, on top of that you will probably get VAC banned after being hacked and having all your hats stolen. I'm almost tempted to trade my unusual hat with brahms briefly so i can pretend i don't have one on tf2items.com

Dueling is fine as long as it's appropriate, like sniper vs sniper for example or heavy vs spy. Somewhere that it isn't going to affect the game itself.

But is it really? Should the sniper constantly look for other snipers to sniper? Or should think about switching to a different position where he can pick off the enemy medic in "peace"? And I have to say, I'm not sure I can trust myself/my pride enough that I won't go spy if I fall back 2-3 kills. I'm not saying ban dueling on wdg and/or stop dueling. Just that it has more sideffects than you'd think at first glance. And now I can actually understand/support that you need an item for dueling, otherwise the entire match would turn into a clusterfuck of 1on1s.

There is a player (american) with 37 steam accounts all of which have TF2 bought when it was £2.50 he idles them all day every day and can trade almost anything except a wiki hat despite many many attempts to get one
