The keys aren't cheap IIRC.
2,49, I think. Not really horribly expensive, but what bugs me is that you can use them only once. I'd rather pay a bit more and have it last forever. And no, keys don't drop.

the dick move in all this is teasing you with the crate drop. the bf heroes crates you can safely ignore as you just buy an unlocked crate from the shop theres no drops. Ok you won't get any of the cool prizes but its stupid gambling anyway, but in TF2 you just have this crate in your inventory sitting there whispering go on, im totally full of purple items

Though this is the kind of evil I can approve of because it's completely up to oneself how much one allows to be teased and toyed with.

Bought a key and a duel thing just out of sheer curiosity.
Also crafted the two new spy items- the pistol isn't much use as it is, but the knife is a fun adjustment. It's basically the Dead Ringer of disguising, and requires a lot of readjustment to the play style. My lives with it generally came down to either failing to get a single kill in order to be able to disguise, and managing to catch someone alone and going on a complete rampage. It's limited by the fact that it makes it easier to tell your team what the spy's disguised as, and that I'm reluctant to take out a heavy or a soldier knowing that I'll inherit their speed.

One thing which bothers me a lot is the simple fact that the Polycount sets add attributes, and while it's probably easy enough to get the weapons through drops and crafting it's almost impossible to get the required hat to complete a set. To try to get the hat through crafting requires enormous luck by now due to the huge number of hats existing for each class. In case of the Polycount hats Valve should create special recipes to craft them selectively (e.g. 5 refined metals and a class token). As long as that is not the case I feel the shop enables players to buy an advantage other people have only a ridiculously small chance of obtaining

I'm sure I've seen an email from Robin Walker somewhere on some forum or other (helpful, right? Sorry!) saying that they are going to introduce crafting recipies for the new hats.

you know, with all the added features they have still to address the biggest glaring issue on TF2.

Even so, that's not something for Valve to fix. Just don't play it.
