The illusion is quite simple, the guy who get's "split" actually consists of two midgets. But robot dog is fascinating.

It's either one half a man or a contortionist and one full sized man, in the version that's not cut for America's got Talent you see the legs run off stage and then get carried back on. Then the new legs and the top half get wheeled off and a full man comes back on to get stapled.
