Was strip mining with the kids watching me, I came across this massive underground cavern and the spooky music played.  Both kids screamed and ran away.  They now pester me at every opportunity to play Minecraft.

I discovered what i will now refer to as the motherlode.

Then I died and all my shit randomly disappeared when i got to it. FUCK.

I found the motherload earlier, it was being guarded by something which I can only describe as a gigantic zombie head, like 15x the regular size.

Deadly then came onto the console, teleported in and stole all my diamond and gold deposits which I spent half an hour riding underground water currents for.

Also the Minecraft validation servers are back up, but you can't buy an account, so no thunderlols for me tonight

Apparently Paypal is taking a while to process the transactions because so many people are trying to buy it at the same time.

It's because of the system he has set up to process them - apparently it can only do one at a time (i.e. user purchases, goes to paypal, returns from paypal, gets accepted) rather than doing multiple accounts at a time (which is what would normally happen).

I think it's because the licensing/accounts is done using files rather than a database.

He said he's removed some synchronisation thing it was doing before, so they're going much faster now. But still probably quite slowly.

After I temporarily took out the sound and music updating, the website got a lot faster, but before that payments were queuing up, so it could take quite some time for some people to actually get their game after they bought it.

What happened is that paypay tried to send the notification immediately, but when the system is busy, it adds the notification to an internal queue in paypal’s system, and resends it after a short period of time. If it fails a SECOND time, it increases the counter and tries even later. So if you got unlucky, it could time out three times in a row, and you’d have to wait a fairly long time. All the payments are still secure, but they just didn’t get processed immediately.

If you bought the game and didn’t receive it immediately, I’m sorry to keep you waiting. Please wait until tomorrow or so before contacting us, though.. We’re getting a LOT of emails about accounts that have already been updated automatically when we check them.

In other news, my purchase is still not processed and I've mailed the guy. We'll see what comes of that. Meanwhile: Single playa.

Yeah - I just tried to play it on my work laptop and it was hella' sluggish! I'm hoping he might port it to something other than java/make some serious optimisations so it runs better - the dedicated server software is awful. uses more resources than a full TF2 server

I find it runs far better on Windows XP in a browser window.  I can barely get it to work on my work machine (Core 2 Duo, 2Gb Ram) on it's own
