you have to adapt to the monsters being an actual danger now. its possible to make either monster proof walls with a grinding moat or simply a fence perimeter. Or just a floating castle which is a popular choice or an underground fort. Either way you need to build defence into your design

skeletons are really annoying if you dont have your own bow, and brahms i cleared a whole cave system by myself yesterday, a new one i found, we were just careless the other day

bleh so i had 3 new wolves nearly 4 then they died in battle and fell down the stupid massive pit. After playing near it I also realised its causing server lag. The lighting engine still can't handle ray traces to the bottom of the map so dont dig massive bloody holes.
Deadly now the whitelist is available and afaik just a list of usernames you can edit in a text file can we have it on please? I'm fairly sure whoever dug the pit isn't on the forums and they need to know to not make the server lag like crazy

I found out in the last day or two something.... anything network is a problem. I've prob been running utorrent before, but now I don't... I was never thrashing the network, but there was some activity. If I stop everything (maybe allow spotify, still seeing) then it worked the other day (1.4 maybe?) it seems ok, I managed 20 mins yesterday without a real problem (few blocks but I can live with that).
...will see how it goes.
Also my 'base' is almost a two day walk away, no one near me at all.
Edit - scrub that, nothing on network now at all and can't mine a single block.. though I am back at spawn... so will try out your idea

i created two floors and just filled in up from the higher one. it didn't need completely filling it just needed a thick crust so creepers couldnt blast it open
