Came to £331.76.

Fitted middle and rear exhaust section.
Replaced fuse for horn.
Ordered a new lighter socket which he will fit when it arrives.
Plugs, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Oil Filter, Oil replaced.
Apparently the spare tyre is fairly knackered, the fan belt is fairly knackered, the battery is fairly knackered and the cam belt might need changing.

Not tooooooo bad I suppose! Would obviously have rather not paid anything

£250 labour, £80 parts?
Replacing the filters, plugs and exhaust is something you could have done yourself in an afternoon.

And I don't have welding gear at home so I don't know how you'd expect me to replace the exhaust?

Plus the service was mostly so I'd know if there's anything drastically wrong with the car so I know if it's about to die or if it'll last me for the next few years.

When I did mine it was all just bolted together, I just had to swap out the old section for a new one. Still gotta have spanners and/or a socket set around, but every self respecting man has those.

I'm still by no means a trained mechanic, and wouldn't know where to start with engine tuning or repairing anything big but a lot of car maintenance stuff is about as challenging as changing out a PC's motherboard - it looks a lot harder than it is.

MY missus up until 2 years ago had a company car, she recently got upset with me when I refused to put her down as a named driver on my car, stating she puts my premium up by a third, it got to the point I had to ask the ginger one to explain it to her.

Now dont get me wrong my missus isnt a bad driver she just gets distracted, whilst driving her company cars she had an accident at a rate of 2 per year, in her defense it wasnt her fault. The wall just jumped out, the parked car in the shopping Centre just moved at the last second, the sun was in her eyes and she didnt have her glasses on so had to shut her eyes, hence she didnt see the other car on the other side of the road, She wasnt tailgating she just happened to be to close when the car in front applied their breaks.

You get the idea.

I tend to cycle to work, so dont use the car much these days. Last year, she ran our car dry, no oil at the same time she had been driving with a car that had the front passenger side wheel's air pressure down to 40% of what it should have been, she hadnt noticed the warning lights, the performance drop or the steering issue, a bollocking and well she did it again, I am not saying its related but the car died a month after the second time she ran it dry.

We got a replacement car just before christmas, I figured it would last a couple of months until the end of year bonus came through. I was wrong, I got a call during the MOT, garage mechanic didnt even bother sucking his breath in through his teeth, he just said. "Come and collect your car, its flooded the engineer bay with cooling fluid and we are on the third page of advisories".

So we get another temporary car, I was sat in this on Friday whilst my missus drove, its not a case of getting from A to B as fast as possible its the fact she dosnt avoid things on country roads like sodding great pot holes, hedges, cyclists.  This goes someway to explaining why in the morning when she leaves the house the street suddenly empties, the villagers are scared of her.

Not a rant, its just my missus drives me crazy with what she does to a car, you ever seen a person try to put oil in the car through the dipstick hole. I have.
