Oooo! Lots.
This should be a giggle. I've not owned my own car in years. And the last few cars have been an experiance. So let's have a ponder using no grounds for basis what so ever.
- Massively blowing exhaust - If no replacment needed £20 labour - Replacment (more than likley, insist on seeing the new shiny thing or they're blagging you) £100 + £60 labour
- Horn/Lighter Socket not working - Electrical gremlin, £80 for an hours labour, probably won't fix it.
- Full Service - lots of cash, about £180 including parts and labour.
So now some mathmatics.
Parts:
£110
Labour:
2 hrs @ £80 per hour = £160
Service:
£180
Total so far £340
Vat @ 17.5% = £95.5
Total £399.5
Good luck fella. I hope for your sake that the bill is a lot lower. Certainly helps if you trust your garage. After working for Halfords years ago and hearing the mechanics talk, I don't really tust them. For example. Who lifts the bonet on their car after a service? The garage won't replace the spark plugs, but they will charge you for it. In fact if your totally unscrupulos then you don't do anything to the car. So same old oil, they may top it up. But the engine won't have been flushed and the oil changed. The air and oil filters will be the same. They may have hoovered the air filter a bit, or at least knocked out the worst of the junk. Like I said, helps if you trust them
