Being a very demanding guy today Basically I am at home for the summer and the parents have bt (shoot me now) with one of those homehub things (shoot me again). I purchased a fairly good router earlier in the year: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000ETX928/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_titleUnfortunately it is not a modem router (which is no problems with virgin at uni) but it means I have to turn that homehub thing into just purely a modem, which apparently can be done. I tried following some instructions I found on the web but with no success. Was wondering if any of you would know what settings I need to change on the homehub and what I need to change on the other router aswell.

I think to do it I had to download a software profile from the internet for the modem to turn it into a 'bridge' - which is what you need to do with your BT homehub. Maybe that'll give you something to google for. Once that's done - it should work just like your cable modem did so you might not have to change much on your linksys router.

I sympathise. Also, what with my new desktop and redownloading my Steam games catalogue I'm reasonably sure I'm on the brink of smashing their fair use policy to pieces.

Mine is supposed to be 5Gb per month, including uploads too. Thankfully it's not actually enforced

Shout me if you need a Netgear router to borrow for a while Happy to lend. I'll speak to you on steam next time your on john. He will still have the same problem. The reason he wants to use the linksys router is because he has it set up to allow QoS so his gaming gets priority traffic. He needs an ADSL modem (or modem router) that can be put into a bridge profile so it only acts to provide a gateway to the internet and no routing / switch / wireless functionality as this will be provided by the linksys. Something like this: http://www.homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.Bridge (may not work, may break your router, only looked at the page very briefly)
