Hello there!

I'm looking for a small Notebook/Netbook for surfing in the Internet and maybe sometimes wathing some videos/DVDs.

I found these two but I'm not sure if they are really good?
At the moment I'm using a Acer Aspire 1400 and it is really annoying and slow.

1. Acer Aspire One D250

2. Lenovo IdealPad S10-2

They have the same details:

Intel Atom N270
1.600 MHz
1.024 MB RAM
250 GB hard drive
Widescreen 1024x600 WSVGA
Ethernet 10/100, Bluetooth, W-Lan
Microsoft Windows Starter

Power said he is not sure if it is really faster than the one I have now.

What do you think? Is there a better one with a smiliar price? I would like to spend up to 300 € but not more as we are poor and stuff

Yeah - they're both going to be pretty similar. To be fair - they're all going to be pretty similar for the kind of price range and netbook-ness of them.

They don't have a DVD drive though so unless you get an external USB one you won't be able to watch DVDs on it.

They're really not designed to be fast performing - so it probably won't be very fast.

If you're only using it for browsing and watching movies it shouldn't really matter what the specs are really should it? As long as its better then what you have atm and its within bugget, just go for it. I'd look for aditional features or colours or free stuff that comes with it as well tbh, but then thats just me; I currently use a £900 gaming laptop as a netbook so you probably shouldn't listen to me .

Maybe I should add that the one I'm using right now is from 2003 and can only be used with the cable.. so everything should be better right?

Is Windows 7 Starter good for a Netbook or is Windows XP better for it or something?

I am using an Asus EEE PC 1005 Netbook.
Bought it for 250€ and I think it's a good for that price.
Intel Atom N450 1.6GHz
1GB RAM
160GB HDD

Asus sais that the battery lasts 11hrs. I have not tested it yet, but I can tell that it lasts very long.
I also like the keyboard layout, but wasn't satisfied with the touchpad, bought a logitech bluetooth mouse.
Another advantage is that it hasn't a glossy display, so you can use it outside.

If you buy this one or any other netbook don't expect to buy high end super fast technology.
If you just want to surf or do office stuff it will be fine.
I also watch movies on it, but it hasn't got a dvd-drive. But it has 160gb hdd and enough usb slots for external drives.

Well I just talked to someone from MediaMarkt and he said they don't sell any of these.. but they have others under 300 € (fx. HP) so I maybe should just go there and look at them..

That would explain a lot.  I haven't had any females going d'aawww over my sig though.

All the atom based notebooks perform much the same - the only real differentiator is battery life - how long do you need it to last?  You'll want one with a '6 Cell' or better if you'd like >4 hours use.
I'd also advise you get it upgraded to 2GB RAM.

I'd like to recommend an iPad really, but they are waaaaaaayyyy too expensive.

Yeah, we should see decent Android tablets with similar performance to an iPad for under £150 coming out in Q4.
