Original RTS from Westwood - Dune. Must have played it through a dozen times. Hasn't aged well.

Never played Dune but I loved the original Westwood C&C games, particularly Red Alert. I'm also a sucker for the Total War series. Rome: Total War is probably my fav PC game, single player anyway.

Deus Ex was an epic game, loved CoD 4, Max Payne (funsies!) original Half Life almost ended my social life, as did Red Alert, Diablo and FM. Supreme Commander anyone? I can spend DAYS trashing the crap outta my processor with that game, also, Monkey Island series. Brilliant.

Considering my time away from the home PC, I'm wondering if I can get Deus Ex to run on my crusty old laptop!

I had deus ex but I never gave it a proper chance. Wonder if I still have it somewhere...
I would have to say Champ manager 03/04 or Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Popped into the local Morrisons and noticed among the crap I noticed Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Unreal Tournament 3 and Assassins Creed all for £5.99

Half life robbed me of many a weekend (got to the stage I could play through almost the whole thing in one session and I still play it at least twice a year) as did FFVII and FFVXII (SHUT UP!)! I think I played quite a lot of the first Unreal single player or bot matches; one of my old school mates was a mapper and I'd go around his place and try out his new maps. Good times.
More recently Borderlands, Arkham Asylum and Blood Bowl.

You could choose how you wanted to proceed - full facial, sneaking in from the rear or a more diplomatic approach (like buying them a drink first).
there fixed it. oddly enough i was talking about this today. i said final fantasy 7 is one that i always remember but as far as pc goes i really enjoyed cod4 as it had a great story not much springs to mind sadly. Some games are awesome for their action other have great story telling

medieval total war ate up hours of my life but more recently (last couple years) hearts of iron 2 is able to take entire nights worth of play time without getting boring.
rome:TW is also a huge time waster, conquering the entire italian peninsula with Carthage never gets old. Huge cavalry armies walking all over those pathetic little red guys.
and red alert 2, man that game stole most of my life back in school.
