Quick question for you.
Anyone here with a white BT home hub? Do you find it randomly resets it's self when playing TF2, CS:S. Happens with both offline practice. Games over a LAN and even trying to connect to the server.
Just curious to see if anyone else is suffering this problem.

I had a similar problem with my Orange Box, every so often it seemed to reset itself.

Mine did thisso i went into its preferences and exempted hl2 from its built in filters. Also have you tried unplugging it so that it re updates its firmware (unplug for 5 mins to clear its memory i think) alternatively phone BT and ask for your MAC code and wait for the better deal with the newer better black home hub.
More alternatively i have a good one at home looking for a new owner ?

I seem to remember hearing something about them shutting down if they carry too much traffic; like the kind of stuff you're sending when you're in game?! I don't know/remember the specifics of the problem, but I'm sure its a fairly common one. BT user forums maybe?

Ive had 6 computers logged through mine with no issues on several gig of data passing through. Also never had an issue with bt bit pricey and apt to give you a better deal just because you phone them otherwise not to bad. Also the range of that home hub is amazing compared to other wireless hub's ive trialled.

We had problems with Virgin at home with the whole internet resetting every few minutes. Eventually we had to get a repair man who fiddles with the box thingy outside the house who got it to work perfectly.

Yeah...somethings they're not powerful enough for handling lots of PC's/lots of network traffic. Some of them can overheat as a result of that as well (causing them to reset)
Solutions: - cool your router - make it do less work (switch off firewall / other services) - get a new router - see if an alternative firmware is available (probably not on a BT box)
My Be box suffered from that which is why I set it so that *all* it did was act as a modem (called a bridge), which I then plugged another router into it to do the wireless/routing part. Never had the same problem again.

Alternatively attach fans or refrigeration devices for fun factor!

Thanks people. I'll try changing the settings for HL2.EXE in the firewall thingy.

Had this problem with my homehub. In the end I just swapped it out for a netgear router. You can get them off the internet for around £30 these days.

I may have to go shopping at this rate. I eventually found the page i was looking for https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711. So I've had a play with the BT modem and I think it's going to work ok. As long as it lets me connect and play for Frag Fest, I don't really care

This has happened to me.
It's to do with the router interpreting the increased UDP traffic as a DOS attack. I can't remember the specific details, but to turn this off you'll need to telnet into the router.
