I also just finished, while I loved the game, fuck the ending. 0 closure to be had, and if the canon ending is the one brahms thinks then fuck the writers.

More of a fallout style ending, less waffling without any actual narrative. Instead it seems they opted for the everybody dies is the canon ending because then we don't have to write anything else.

Or hopefully they plan a sequel, NOW WITH CLOSURE

The philosophical ending nullifies your choice which was a problem for lots of people, what is the point in a choice if adam is just going to ponder it, I could have done that for myself. It fits for the everybody dies ending because then it really was down to everyone else and not you what happened and your narrator adam is dead (still a crappy lazy ending though to kill everyone to make way for the DX1 story). The other options had direct consequences adam was in the middle of, his story didn't end there, I mean unless the super bullshit ending is that really panchea always explodes you just get your messages out first, if he died everytime and it was clear that he did I'd be more comfortable with the endings although still mad about killing everyone off. The way they were presented though is that the story continues and your choice has far reaching consequences that your narrator lives to see, and even if we get a sequel and the sarif ending is retconned as canon we will never get the narrative for the other endings.

Even if you provide the immediate narrative you can still sum up with the philosophy without removing meaning from player choice and still get to ponder it all at the end.

Ok maybe I should justify myself. When I experience any kind of entertainment format I want it to finish on a note that makes me think, is open to discussion and makes me want more. Deus Ex filled all 3 of these criteria for me.
Plus the story ended exactly how I wanted it too. It wasn't a GET THE GIRL GET THE BOOBS LOLOLOL ending and the point was how to portray the developments of the ending to the public.

I agree with all of that I just wanted my choice to mean something and give me a little actual narrative that can then end with making me think.

the sarif ending for instance, what happens to humanity front, is there increased violence against anti-augs, what happens to sarif and jenson and sarif industries, then adam can tell me about maybe sarif industires will remain a good guy maybe in the future their morailty will erode, maybe the ostracisation of anti-augs came with too high a cost. We can have our cake and eat it too.

I liked the endings.
I didnt. They were terrible and didnt fit into the awesome game and story that came beforehand. Felt like they came close to releasedate and just came up with some stupid philosophy stuff that makes you feel smart (what disco said). Theres too many questions left open when the game is over and that shouldnt happen in a game where you have the ability to know everything about a story/character if you want to. The end was like "Ha, expect to see all the details? Well screw you heres some stock footage of railways followed by credits, lol gtfo". This works in movies, NOT in a game!
