When you get it all set up and with good settings - see if your CPU maxes out when you play the games you like to play.

For example - when playing TF2 my CPU usage is usually about 30-40% I think - so it's not being bottlenecked by the CPU.

If you get 100% CPU usage while you're playing games - then it's causing a bottleneck.

Not necessarily. 400 could be enough. I used a 380ish PSU before my recent upgrade where I replaced my 8800GT with a 5770 Radeon. Don't think there's a huge difference in power consumption. So unless the 58er are much more power hungry you should be fine. If not you will notice it soon enough Tongue
Just make sure the PSU has the proper values for the card (voltage/amps etc)

The 5850 requires 2 6-pin PCI-E connectors - at a guess I'd say that a 400w PSU wouldn't have those.

Google 'power supply calculator' and try to work it out from there for what you need.

As for power requirements ATI states: '500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended'
