Note: This is very much a work in progess, and will be added to. This is why many members don't have any comments next to their names (please don't take this as a slight
) and most sections are incomplete. I intend to develop this into a fuller history of WDG, watch this space! Please tell me if I've forgotten people off the past members list, I listed everyone I could remember off the top of my head. Corrections, comments and suggestion, as with almost everything I do, are welcome!
GenesisIn the beginning there were three blokes. Junta, PapaFade and Mass. They thought it would be ace to create a TF2 clan for like minded people who weren't thirteen years old and didn't think N-Dubz were the peak of lyrical achievement in popular music. Basically more mature players. And it was good.
They brought some old mates along, and enlisted some new ones.
Some time later Mass ran off to start his own clan, Cows of War. Despite far from perfect later relations with WDG they had a few good members who we still see on our server from time to time.
(If you want a more comprehensive early history of WDG by someone far more qualified to tell it, check out PapaFade's post
here)
MembersCurrentThe Leadersmode_seven - More commonly known these days as Jesus, due to his perfectly justified God complex.
Mr Chug - Fondly known as Chuggy Bear to many, good medic but does a bit of everything.
Berath - A person, allegedly
The AdminsBlue Geezer - Bastard Huntsman Sniper.
Millicent Bystander - Current resident Engineer, known for creative sentry placements. Has thousands of children (well, 5).

Cheez - Stellar all-round player, and former scrim team leader. Has since moved on to brighter competitive pastures. We wish him luck!
claws - Much loved medic and sexual acquaintance to a large number of WDGers.
DeadlyAvenger - As much clan bitch as leader (as was). Did a huge amount of work despite the barrage of abuse directed his way, showing his huge commitment to the clan's continuing success. Thinks resigning as CL means the abuse will stop.
Digital Pimp -An early friend from NuB days who stayed for a while.
DodgyEmu - Northern Irish Medic, runner up Angel of Mercy in 2009, winner in 2010, and he deserved it.
DodgyGuy - An early recruit and a strong soldier.

Guilt is a rope... - Left us as real life beckoned, recently became a Father!
Harbinger - Brother of Cheez, had to drop from the clan due to his real life workload but may be seen again one day.
hawt - moved to LoL. The demands of study required a reduction and withdrawal from gaming
HeX - A fearsome Pyro and Papa's missus, wields her banhammer well. Postulated to look sexy in a hat.
Hzza - Tricksy Scout, has a somewhat curious relationship with one tommythecat.
Jebus - driver of FNR!, fearsome soldier, not too bad at scout or demo either
Junta - Founding father, brilliant Heavy and top bloke.
LtMama - A kitten, known at some point to have made a pass at every single member of the clan.
Lullaby - Former NuB and Power's other half.
mad2moons - Friend of Papa's from early days in Counter-Strike. Left following real life troubles.
Magathery - AKA Ripsaw. His laugh can level the most stone hearted of players to hysterics. Fully embraces the WDG ethos of fun and banter above all.
Marenghi - A reg who joined for a time, but still loiters around. Good for a game of L4D.
mark- AKA Danish Bacon, left after his less than relaxed nature grated too much on the rest of the clan.
mass - Founding member, set up the forums and servers in the early days before moving on.
Mr Craig - Previously a member of CoW, he defected to WDG to play for a while before disappearing.
Nineblade - Tattooed in places never meant to be tattooed. Possesses an incredible capacity for clever puns.
Officer Dibble - Former BFM player. Once owned an impressive beard.
Omnipotens - Scouser. Likes Chiana. Dab hand at sniper and pyro
PapaFade - Another founding member, like the all the leaders past and present did great work behind the scenes to get the clan to where it is today.
Power - Former NuB and Lullaby's other half.
revert - Many still have nightmares of his sniping skills.
scroggage - Former BFM player. Looks good in goggles.
The cake is a spy - Another early member, who came to WDG from the NuB community.
Teh Fluff - keen TF2er. Fatherhood caused a cessation of active gaming
TheReason - Devious spy and a top medic.
Tommy the Cat - Hzza's lover. I think?
Twiggeh - Twigs, slimmed down into a sexy stallion of a man. Has a retarded horse for an avatar.
Wa - A good soldier, sadly went AWOL, can occasionally be spotted on Steam but we're really not sure what happened to him.
wingzero - Another bastard sniper! An old-hand from NuB and earlier.
Zasprel - One of Junta's old friends, briefly joined WDG to try TF2 before moving on.
AlliesWDG's oldest ally is
NuB, former stomping grounds of many WDGers, including our founders. Currently quietly hibernating.
Another former ally is BFM, a group of students from Peter Symonds College in Winchester (also past home to mode_seven, LtMama and regulars JammyJim and Lazzars). Upon folding several of them were snapped up into our ranks.
Many other friendly clans can be spotted on our server, HAM, the Good Guys and Don't Shoot the Medic have been past allies. Current allies are pH and ClanCrazy and a close relationship has been formed with the gaming community UKCS.
The RegularsWDG would be nothing without our enthusiastic and dedicated community of regular players. An exhaustive list of all those that have supported us over the years would be ridiculous in length, and so I'll just try to make mention of a few of their achievements.
Tyrannosaurus Regs, more often known as T-Regs is the name taken by the group of regulars who sometimes take on WDG in friendly matches, usually in the Highlander format. Completely unfounded accusations have been made that WDG recruits from the ranks of T-Regs in order to weaken them and lessen their chances in future confrontations. Even if this was the plan it definitely hasn't worked.
The Fort 2 is a blog maintained by regular Teatime with posts on various facets of Team Fortress 2.
Finally, I could not in good conscience go without mentioning Matthew Pott, known to WDG as Vegan. A friendly and good natured regular on WDG's servers, and brother of LtMama, he sadly passed away on 9th December 2009 following a hit and run incident. He is a much missed member of the community, and clan members and regulars alike have left their respects in
this thread.
Competitive PlayWhile WDG always has been and remains primarily a community clan dedicated to fun and teamplay, a few members have carried this ethos over into the competitive scene with great success. Leagues in which WDGers can be seen include ETF2L and Wireplay.
ETF2L 6v6 Team pageETF2L Highlander Team pageWireplay Team pageHowever these teams are currently resting with many members having moved onto other things, some of which will be mentioned later on.
The following has been contributed by Chaos, with minor editing by Mode and extras added by Berath."It all started in mid 2009, just after WDG turned up, all guns blazing to the i-series at Stoneleigh Park and gaining a great performance, finishing 5th in our first ever competitive TF2 tournament consisting of players of all skill levels. We returned home to be showered in glory from clan members and regulars alike. Riding this high, some of us decided that we enjoyed the competitive side of TF2, and so the Scrim Team was born!
Originally consisting of only 6 players; Chaos, Cheez, Hzza, LtMama, DodgyEmu and ReVert. WDG had spawned a team that wasn't to last. ReVert said his goodbyes to WDG before the team even got started. As we planned to have ReVert as our demoman because of his great show of skill in public play on our server, the only natural replacement was mode_seven, but as he was away at university most of the year, we needed somebody that was about more often so Nineblade stood up to the challenge. After some time planning we had our first few matches!
After a lot of solid practice and bonding, we entered our second competitive cup (cp_obscure One Night Cup), only to be beaten in the first round by what ended up in being a Division 1 team. We didn't know this at the time though. Quickly re-gaining confidence, a lot of players and after a lot more practice, WDG, joined the ETF2L Season 7 league in division 6h. Only losing one map, drawing another and winning the rest in a total of 14 maps against 7 teams (2 teams dropped!).
Sailing high off of our great victory in Season 7, we decided we should enter Wireplay and were placed in division 4 based on our ETF2L perfromance. But due to roster issues, we thought it best to drop as to not lose interest in the game for future leagues and cups.
There's still a lot to come from the WDG scrim team. It's constantly evolving and getting better as the team bonds and learns together. Watch this space for future accomplishments and victories."
As Chaos has since departed it is left to me to update our progress since.
Following the departure of key members of the squad, we struggled through ETF2L's AFS league in Summer 2010 in Division 5. Despite some depressing results, the British tradition of keeping a Stiff Upper Lip was maintained, even rubbing off onto our European members. For Season 8 we regrouped and return to Division 6. It's early days yet, but so far we're going strong.
Alongside this, WDG has participated in the ETF2L Highlander Challenge. Victory in the group stages has seen the team through to the knockout rounds. The T-Regs have also joined WDG in this endeavour, forming their own team led by Cruelcow and Teatime. They have also made it through the group stages, and we look forward to keeping track of their progress through the knockouts alongside our own.
Since mode wrote his piece, the WDG 6v6 and Highlander teams have been put to rest. However the involvement of the community in competitive play has continued.
A new 6v6 team has formed,
For No Raisin. FNR! has played through three Seasons now plus a special one-night cup where they finished first in the lowest bracket. In their first season, S13, they played in Div 5 and finished in 3rd place. In between seasons they played sufficiently well to prove they could be placed in Div 4 for S14. This went less well and the team finished 5th. For S15 it was back to Div 5 where they finished 3rd again with an overall better performance (over and above it being a lower division) and steady improvement throughout the season. The team is resting for S17.
An attempt was also made to form a newbie 6v6 team,
A Hive of Scum and Villainy. However, it was difficult to organise the amount of practice that a new team such as Hive required and the team floundered a bit in the jump from pub to comp and the different requirements needed. This coupled with a change in job for one member plus fatherhood for another meant that Hive is now resting.
A new community Highlander team was also created
Keep Calm and Listen to Lefty to play in ETF2L. KCaLtL has played in three Seasons. In Season 2 the team finished 2nd, in Season 3 KCaLtL finished 3rd and in Season 4 KCaLtL reached 2nd place again. After Season 4, Lefty left the team to join another where he could take a reduced leadership role, organising a highlander team being similar to herding cats. However this has meant that KCaLtL will probably not appear in Season 5 as no-one else foolhardy enough to accept the role has yet appeared.
Finally the community formed a Highlander team to play in Wireplay Season 9,
FNR!, sister to the 6v6 team. The team entered Div 4 and finished 4th (out of 8 )
There is also a third Highlander team which has some involvement from the community,
Handbags at Dawn. This team formed from a group of female TF2 players (all from already established HL teams) who decided it would be fun to enter the Reddit Round Robin as a group. Berath and Kovah played as engie and soldier respectively. So far the team has entered two Round Robins and although it hasn't got very far, all have enjoyed the experience and it has allowed links to be made between the various HL teams and team members, some of whom have made appearances on the WDG server.
For ETF2L S17, a new 6v6 team has been formed from the WDG community,
She's 'effing Grey! This team, led by Leftism, is a team of comp newbies, entering in Div 6.
LANsFour of our number attended Multiplay's i37 LAN in 2009; Chaos, DeadlyAvenger, LtMama and Twiggeh. Hearing very good things the majority of the rest of the clan wanted in, and over 20 members and regulars attended i40 the next year at Newbury Racecourse. I feel that instead of writing much about this, I'll let the videos taken during the event be an alternative for this section:
The WDG i40 Video Blog18 members and regulars attended i43 the following summer. Ripsaw made a series of videos to record the event
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5mAH5yKQJIi46 was a much smaller affair. Much. Only Berath attended the entire event with Deadly, Doddy and Burnalot making an appearance on the Sunday. However, without the disadvantage of the rest of the WDG community, Berath, as part of the UKCS contingent, managed to come first in the Saturday Evening i46 Pub Quiz.
A keg of beer was bought and twister was played
TraditionsIn 2009 the first annual clan awards were held; The Rodgers. Hosted by our very own Ripsaw, they celebrated the great and the good of the clan and community, and the 2009 ceremony may be viewed on YouTube
here. They continued into 2010, and no doubt will be treasured again when we roll round to 2011.
WDG clanstacks *never* work. Ever. If there are ever significantly more players on one team than the other, that team is doomed to failure. This rule has been bent a little recently by the scrim team admittedly, but in public games it holds firm.
History in LinksThe WDG Youtube Channel - Various videos can be seen here dating back a couple of years, many showing epic fails by our members. Also of note is the WDG Annual Rodgering video linked above, and
WDG Heavy Tennis.
The "Hex in a Hat" Sexy Fantasy Fan Club - A while back many of the clan held great curiousity as to how our female leader, at that time, would look in a hat. We then set up this campaign group in an effort to persuade someone to produce pictures of said scenario.
"Kill Junta" Steam Group - We don't know whether it's because of his pocket medics, skill or just plain luck, but sometimes he just doesn't die.
