Had everything, except SR3. Bought the bundle, got one key for SR3 and one for the rest. Can't activate SR3 because it's "not available for purchase in my country". Can't do anything with the other key, because it doesn't give extra copies and it's for "my personal use". That was fun.

This is a bloody bargain.

I have no problem with large companies adopting the humble model, hopefully it'll change the industry. I really don't see how the hell companies manage to get away with charging £40 for a download.

Also, I left more money to HB and charity than normal, compared to an indie bundle.

I highly doubt it's going to change anything in the games industry, not top down. Can't forget a few things in regards to corporations and bargains like this, rather than indies:


1) they've already made their money back from the development costs and more, cross platform.
2) they can use this as a charitable contribution and tax rebate, which only helps them.
3) it's free advertising. They really don't care if they make money or not (which they won't).


Indie devs getting pushed forward, will help the industry, but homegrown gaming as we used to know it has gone. The primary goal for most devs to make any kind of money is console and every console has their money making sealed up tight.. XBox has the XNA section and MS has PS mobile.

You wouldn't believe how difficult it actually is to get up and running with the idea of publishing to PSN or XBL main markets, this is why "app gaming" has taken off so quickly, it's not cost prohibitive. For example, to make a PS3 theme and get it published on PSN requires you fit into some guidelines, just from the standpoint of your "company". There are upfront charges for the pleasure, and the dev kits cost a bundle. Sony and Microsoft have caught on, both late by varying margins.

Doesn't help that the new generation think Angry Birds is a gaming masterpiece.

If you like indie, you'll probably have to source indie, for most of your gaming life. Unless it's got 360-no-lifing in it.

That has to be a mistake, the German language version is available according to them.

well indie royale has always done a better job of promoting unknown (or lesser known indies). I'm slightly confused because the people I see on twitter complaining are small indies who humble would slam the door on and laugh at them. Its easier to get through greenlight than get on a humble bundle.

Well I knew there are no extra copies and I wasn't intending to use the second key anyway. The key appears to be for the english version of the game which is not available and to be honest I don't want to play SR3 in german version, SR2 was horribly censored by some incompetent shmucks. I don't mind much, because I'm happy to help THQ who made some of my favourite games in this past years and are in a very bad shape financially.

What worked for me in the past with games like this is paying an UK bloke to buy the game as a gift and gift it to me. It installed the uncensored version just fine. You just can't buy it here.

Also activation through a proxy has been reported to work, but that is pretty risky I'd say.

This is what I believe to be true as well, they don't want people getting games cheaper by paying USD instead of EUR and also avoiding tax (essentially fraud), they don't care if you play your game a bit early.

As much as that is LIKELY to be true, it is a fact that steam just very recently changed their TOS to include a very specific line stating that using a VPN to unlock a game earlier will get you banned. Now that is just because they probably have to state such a thing in their TOS, but I would be more careful now, especially because in their forums somehow theres always a pretty high up dude in their company warning people about that. Ill admit that I used vpns a couple times before in the last years (I specifically remember unlocking Left 4 Dead earlier lol), but now Im not doing it anymore just to be safe, as much as thats most likely just to scare people or to meet some sort of weird "regulation", I dont really wanna throw my 200+ games account on the line IN CASE OF...

Yes that has helped me too in the past, Left 4 Dead 2 I got from an old clanmate in switzerland, MW3 I got the ROW-version from a guy on a trading forum. Sadly theres some dickhead developers that restrict access to your game if you do that (specifically Treyarch and both Black Ops games, a friend of mine got BLOPS1 from someone in England and he cant start the Multiplayer anymore because german IPs are restricted to connect to the servers when using the non-german version). Supposedly its the same for BLOPS2.
