Well my loverly employers will alow me to take the company car into europe, provided I tell them 2 weeks in advance. The fule card won't be valid out side the UK, so I'll be fueling it myself so to speak. Still got the "Tempory" car of the Renault Scenic. For a 1.5 liter diesel it's not that bad. It's got 6 gears and cruise control. I'm not a fan of the "sit up and beg" driving position, but your supposed to stop and get out & stretch every 2 hours or so.
It's mainly the fear of the unknown at the moment. I've driven quite a bit of England. Been into Wales. Even been in to Scotland 2 or 3 times. But I've never been abroad. I don't think the Isle of White conts as abroad. So this is looking to be quite an adventure. So rather than do the usual thing of hop on a plane and take a package holiday, I thought why not do something slightly different. Presides, I'm not sure flying is for me. I've had 3 flights in my life. 15 minuets in a helicopter when I was a kid. And then an internal flight from Luton to Edinborough and back. I'm not sure what worrys me more. The flying, or the nightmare of getting to/through/out of the airport.
The bottom line is I've got to be able to afford it. I'm too much of a miser to spend money on myself. There is always that part that has to battle with the rational side in the quest for fun. Go on holiday = fun. Yet money could be spent on other more practical things like paying off the loan on the central heating instalation. But some times you have to say "Sod it" and just go on an adventure

Thanks for the input people. I do apreciate it.
