there is a new replacement driver with a fix that came out yesterday. I'd check the temps and give the card a good cleanout with an air duster for god measure. Especially if your getting artifacts on screen.
If you're referring to the overheating-driver, I never had that one installed. I already tried both the newest beta and the newest certified driver.

Currently I'm testing my pc with my mate's 5850, but ati drivers are horrible to install!

Nothing horrible about it, it's just the switch from Nvidia to Ati and the other way around which is horrible. Tongue Make sure you use DriverCleaner or similar before you install the other manufacturers drivers and reboot at lest once (better to do it 66 times).

If the installer crashes during installation and I'm forced to scrape through the extracted files for the actual installer and launch it via command line, it's horrible in my eyes. Wink
Also, isn't it possible to have a ati and nvidia card working at the same time under win7?

Aaanyway, with the 5850 I was able to play an entire round battlefield and furmark is running just fine for 3 minutes now.


Really looks like it's time to buy a new one, which is a pity since it's a very bad time to buy at the moment Sad

Believe it or not, if it's trashed anyway you might be able to fix it using an Oven:

Many people report this works, what it does is repair problems cause by cracked solder because all the joins melt slightly and reform.
