Dunno about england, but in austria you are not allowed to use snow chains unless the entire street is completely covered in snow i.e. you can't damage the road.

Try those instead. Not chains - won't damage the road.

Snow Chains aren't illegal in the UK outright -- there has to be enough snowfall before drivers should consider putting snow chains on their cars.

However, there hasn't been enough snowfall for them to be legal to put on your cars.

In reality, though. It's really too much work and hassle, you're not entering the Rally of Sweden! Tongue

HOT TODDY TO THE RESCUE.

Have one before bed and sweat your illness away.
That sounds amazing.

I only have lager though. I'll put it in the mircowave.

We have Hot lemonade with a tot of whisky in it does the job.
When Lynn was a factory nurse she advised one her patients to try this with a hot water bottle at night.
Next day he comes in and says that hot lemonade and whisky in the hot water bottle didn't work, she had to explain that he was meant to drink the hot lemonade and whisky and fill the hot water bottle with hot water  Cheesy

Drove the 20 miles to work (started at 7:15am), today, took 1 and a half hours and was pretty treacherous, especially when overtaking the more cautious drivers.

Got to work, only 3 other people (out of 9) had made it, the snow didn't stop and we had, had 2 customers.  It was a good laugh though, we got permission from the area manager to close, turns out none of the other branches in the area had opened, gave my manager a lift back as he lives near me and takes the bus.

I said this was the one week of the year 4x4 drives had a reason to feel smug, he replied that his classic Range Rover was off the road as it had just failed it's MOT and he was gutted.

It took me 45 mins to get home due to clear(ish) roads and no traffic which is about the same time as it normally takes.

Got home 2pm had a snowball fight with the local kids and failed to help Mrs Bystander put up Christmas deccys.

Just got back off my night shift, and decided on my 6 mile bike journey home that I was gonna make the most of my one day/night off this week (today). So whacked on the christmas songs on my mp3 and sang loudly all the way home (got some very funny looks) and now gonna have a shower, have some breakfast and watch some film/play some games and then get wasted later and go out. Actually just decided as I am typing this that I'm gonna get a crate now and start drinking. Looking foward to today.

YAY! Cheesy

Last of the working days for this week for me, so day off tomorow. Oh boy do I need it. The cold that has been slowly going desided to have a final blow out at 3:00 am. So feeling creaky and groggy. Back to the parasetamol and ibuprofen pain killer rotation. Take that dirty little virus!

So what's on the books today? Well the snow has been a dissapointment. Looked nice and impressive last night. But in the cold light of day it's barely covered the ground. Roads look quite clear. So I'll be off to Cirencester today then. Reload a till on one site that a previous engineer couldn't do because his DVD drive didn't like the till. Then off to replace and reload a back office PC that a technical courier thought they could do. Bless Smiley Then a news agent will probably shoot me, as he's had no printer for a week now. He's been trying to do the paper rounds list by hand, ouch. And I've had 3 fail on fit units in a row. All with the same fault. And for an encor I can replace the data cables on one of the tills, as the monitor mount poles were never debured and eventually cut through the wires. And if I survive that, I can then go to Cheltenham and see if I can fix a cash draw problem at a pertrol station after trying the cash draw (nope, cash draw not at fault), printer (nope, that fires cash draw just fine), till chasis (nope, nothing wrong with the com port). So hopefully the data cable will sove the problem.

Wish me luck Cheesy
