Well no dial tone as of yet, they said it could take up to 8pm before it's working. A slightly positive sign though, now when I put the phone number into the Be website thing, it recognises it, so now I can begin the purchase process for interwebs (before it just said the number wasn't recognised)

Almost finished packing. Not packed up any of my PC yet but done pretty much everything else and I'm absolutely shattered. It's not going to be a fun 2.5 hour drive I've decided that I'm not going to take any of the stuff I need for i40 (t-shirts, server, huge tent) with me now and come back and pick them up next weekend instead.

Going to have a shower, have a shave, pack up my PC then load it into the car and head off. I will be leaving just in time for rush hour. Fun Fun Fun!

Kk, still no dial tone yet though, I don't think it will turn on randomly. I suspect the line has been activated and the main exchange is sending a signal (hence why when I put the number in broadband provider websites now they recognise it and give an estimate of the speed I would get), but perhaps a couple of things need to be fiddled with in a signal box outside or something like that or could be a problem with the socket in the flat.

Reckon it may be worth looking into hiring my own telecoms engineer to come do it? or can you not do that? Would mean I could tell BT to gimme back my £128...whether they'd do that, is a different matter...

Rippy, don't suppose that would fall into your job description? (and I actually mean that seriously, would be the best engineer visit EVER having you come here )

Phone lines are fairly straight forward affairs. Even B&Q sell crone tools these days. And if they don't, ScrewFix will. I may have to start moonlighting as a general tinkerer.

Well mistical powers have cut my Frag Fest short. It looks like my hub really hates hl2.exe. So the first attempt at connecting was met with the HomeHub restting it's self. then on the second attempt the loading screen hanging on "sending client data". Cancel and come out, now I can't get in because my ID is already in use. Grrr. So eventually get in and start having a good giggle. The the game get's a little jumpy. The some of the models start dissapearing. Hats and weapons. So I figure I'll just rebot and all will be good. Find out there are 12 windows updates milling around. No wonder my connection was running like a big pile of purple crap. So sit through the reboot. Get a little conserned whan one of the updates starts altering 14,000 odd registry enteries. Eventually back to normal. YAY! Load up steam, launch TF2. Game hangs on loading screen with "sending client data". I give it a couple of minuets. Cancel and try again. "ID is already in use". NNNAAARRRRGGGGYHHHHHHHH!!!!! RAGE!!!
